"We have to hunker down for a month? We already do that all March."

MD's governor orders self quarantine (14 days) if you've been in the Tri-State Area.

MD schools closed until 4/24. They're working on the distance learning package.

Re: Covfefe-19 - Part 4- Stay the **** Home

I don't understand what that graph is even measuring or trying to imply. Minnesota has seen the lowest infection and death rates. Road traffic is significantly down. We have one of the most competent responses from government so far. We have also had one of the highest rates of Stay Home campaign (as was posted earlier).

I think we're not concerned because like French joked, we're kind of used to hunkering down. We have been ahead of the curve. We have a competent government. And people generally are staying home.

Also, it's ****ing cold out. I'm not going to a beach.

Re: Covfefe-19 - Part 4- Stay the **** Home

WI is SIP, but Mrs. burd works at a medical facility part time, so she still leaves the house some. Even with that reprieve, if we are locked up together much longer, the virus may soon take a back seat to the dangers I face in my own home. Think of that chicken in the cabin scene from Chaplin's Goldrush.

Sorry but this is a bit simplistic. Yes they are unhealthy and that will play a huge roll. But their stubborn refusal to take this seriously at all is going absolutely be the reason along with not preparing. You cannot say with a straight face that most of the red states are ready for this. They dont have the resources, they dont have the training, and they dont have the balls to do what must be done. I get that, since you live in Kentucky, you feel the need to be the defender of the South and you arent wrong we are definitely piling on so I tip my cap to you. But the truth is, the South is screwed because many of the states there just arent in a position to stop this...and they are close to Florida who is doing everything they can to spread it. (the Redneck Riviera is screwed)

Every state is going to be screwed at some point, even California. Minnesota put steps in place to put people in the best position as everything shut down. We dont have "Shelter in Place" but we closed everything but essential business and shut the schools down pretty early on. We adapted quick and when Walz puts the order in place it will have minimal effect at this point. (hell it would hardly be a change at all)

You are also assuming that all the states arent already screwed. If we had a test for every person the infection rate would be through the roof right now. As it is it is climbing steadily anyways.

I’ve been saying no state was ready for this for a while, d/t a complete lack of testing. We may all eventually be screwed, yes, but the shelters in place may help significantly, at least, if we keep it up, according to that coronavirus act now website. Quite a few posters keep pointing at “all” red states as a problem. No, they’re not. SOME are. Not denying that. SOME took the right steps, and yes, those places are ones like Louisiana and Kentucky, who have Democratic governors. I’m agreeing that red states will eventually get hit harder, ESPECIALLY the ones that are “limited action” states. If shelter-in-place works as designed, the southern states who took smart actions will have New York to thank for seeing how serious this can get quickly. The southern and red states who have still done nothing at this point should be ashamed, and absolutely deserve blame. Don’t throw all of us in there. It’s always what I’ve been saying.

Is WI really shelter in place though? Reading the text of the order, most workplaces, other than a lot of the recreational ones that were already shut down, can remain open. In fact the notice even says that in the "exceptional circumstance" your workplace is not listed among the many, many "essential" industries, contact a specific state agency to see if in fact you CAN remain open. Likely the result of a weak democratic governor coming up with something his republican legislature and all of their business donors could live with.

If only.

This will have zero effect on the Dumpies. It still all depends on whether we go to the polls.

Re: Covfefe-19 - Part 4- Stay the **** Home

lots of these patients are hospitalized for more than a month, and check out how long between the last positive PCR test and being released from the hospital:

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/langas/article/PIIS2468-1253(20)30083-2/fulltext

Holy crap. ( :-/ ) Combine that with over 50% of people have GI symptoms. For many, that’s the first symptom.

Also interesting that the throat swab cake up negative weeks before fecal tests were negative. That’s crazy. Maybe someone on here can tell us if that’s abnormal for viruses?

That's a great graphic.

Just sayin.
MIT really coming through for MA.

I guess all the state schools in Michigan need to pick it up, especially the 2.2s at LSSU.
