Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

That's why we have units like that. To think about what is going to happen.

Until idiots who can't make money owning casinos come along and think they know better.

That's why Republicans shut them down. Because, we don't need to save people. We just need rich people who can save themselves.

Unprecedented hoax

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

As soon as the first case was reported in China we needed to start putting new protocols in place. It's too late now, and now that we're doing it it has to be done at almost unsustainable levels.

I can't believe my gym is still open. They cancelled classes for 2 days to clean, then will have a "modified schedule". I went on Tuesday, and they had signs and hand sanitizer everywhere, but still... the YMCAs closed.

It's never too late to flatten the curve. It will go higher than it should have because of the howler monkeys in the GOP but the adults can still do some mitigation.

This is going to turn out to map the red states and blue states:

Uh huh.

President Trump made his first public comments about the coronavirus on Jan. 22, in a television interview from Davos with CNBC’s Joe Kernen. The first American case had been announced the day before, and Kernen asked Trump, “Are there worries about a pandemic at this point?”

The president responded: “No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

This looks exactly like the comparison between Philadelphia and St. Louis in 1918. Philadelphia put in social distancing measures almost three weeks after the first case. St. Louis put the measures in two days after their first case. Huge difference.

Kentucky to close all in-person service for restaurants/bars effective tonight. Beshear also announced our first Covid-19 related death.

Maybe, but not for lack of trying from our governor. Beshear seems to be ahead of most governors in terms of closing schools, senior centers, etc. Kentucky’s residents are so **** unhealthy in general that it probably won’t matter.

And once again red states will want to be bailed out by blue states.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Surgeon general today-
“ BREAKING: Surgeon General Jerome Adams warned that the United States is at a “critical inflection point” as it grapples with the coronavirus outbreak and said “there's every chance that we could be Italy,” which has seen the worst outbreak of COVID-19 outside of China, if people don’t follow basic public health measures that have been advised in recent weeks.

“We are at a critical inflection point in this country. People — we are where Italy was two weeks ago in terms of our numbers."

I thought that part was addressed but maybe it was Charlie Baker talking. Can't remember now.

Some states are taking measures but the federal government hasn't done a thing - except spend $2.2 trillion to bail out Wall Street and the House passed a compromise bill that extends sick leave to workers at smaller companies but exempts industries with over 500 workers (leaving 55% of the workforce uncovered. Remember that when the drive-thru attendant hands you your Big Mac.

And one of the key moments then was Philly did not cancel a major parade, while St. Louis did. The death rate difference in those two cities two weeks after those respective decisions is astounding.

Welcome to what we've been telling you two weeks ago.

Left the house today for the first time since Thursday, since my doc said I could today. Tried to get a thermometer at the pharmacy to confirm that I am fever free, all sold out. Did get a pack of disinfectant wipes, though.

Town looks oddly quiet. Not a lot of cars about, not a lot at businesses and breakfast places. Might just be my imagination, as it is that time of year, the ski mountains are all closed up and we're coming into dead season anyway, and it could have been because of the time of day. But if its a real thing, it's a good sign. I know my favorite bar has been pushing facebook notices every day emphasizing how they're doing extra cleaning and sterilizing in line with CDC guidelines so I'm figuring their business must be off some.

IINM this is the most progressive measure by any governor so far. Good for him!

I wonder if most/all of the blue governors will follow? I assume the reds will pray to Freedumb and perish.
