Re: Covfefe-19: Do What Now?

Hey look at this POS

“ Arizona Republican Rep. Andy Biggs, a Christian conservative, said a provision for domestic partnerships was part of the reason for his vote against an emergency coronavirus bill that provided for paid medical leave, free COVID–19 testing and increased unemployment insurance. He also falsely claimed the bill includes abortion funding.”

Go play in traffic.

(Him, not you :) )

I'd like Rep. Andy Biggs to please point out the chapter and verse where "being a good Christian and helping others unless they're two dudes bangin' because eww," is specifically referenced by the bible.

I'll wait...

[Narrator: "He would not wait."]

And today is the day we finally took it seriously. All non-essential personnel are being sent home from plants. Immediately. Badge access being revoked and will only be approved if reviewed by op-comms.

Re: Covfefe-19: Do What Now?

Yesterday on NPR I heard a woman interviewed who was the first to get shot up with a trial vaccine. When they asked her what the next step is, I’m pretty sure she said they do nothing but monitor her health for like 14 months before testing her immunity, production would start after that at some point. Which is why I’m wondering if we’re going to lose a year plus of school, sports, etc.

Re: Covfefe-19: Do What Now?

Remember the inspirational story about the Italians who figured out how to use a 3-D printer to create a key piece to a ventilator and save lives?

Yeah, about that

After two Italian volunteers used a 3-D printer to manufacture a desperately needed ventilator component for those stricken by the coronavirus, the medical company with the patent for the device threatened to sue—even as the printed valves saved at least 10 people's lives in a hospital in the northern Italian city of Brescia.

"There were people whose lives were in danger, and we acted," Cristian Fracassi, who along with fellow volunteer Alessandro Ramaioli made the valves, said in a Facebook post on Sunday. "Period."

You can stop wondering. It's happening. Hope you have Netflix or Disney+

Re: Covfefe-19: Do What Now?

I wouldn't get my hopes up for a quick resolution. Even with phase 1 trials starting now, it could be 12-18 months for a fast-tracked vaccination. Phase 1 is checking safety and dosing could take months to complete. Then they have to do a phase two study to test the efficacy. They'd have to cut phase 3 short.

Our covid-19 research mice aren't shipping yet. Current clinical trial hasn't been tested in animals for efficacy. They probably did safety testing in animals, but they wouldn't have had a good animal model for testing efficacy yet.

they spent decades working on an ebola vaccine, and even though they ramped up efforts during the 2014 outbreak, I think the first was approved by the FDA December 2019

in phase one they usually are just testing safety. Phase 2 tests efficacy. Phase 3 is a huge randomized trial where they test for efficacy and monitor for side-effects.

short term we better hope they find an existing anti-viral drug that helps

Re: Covfefe-19: Do What Now?

Kind of like your demands that we kill Big Pharma (but only after they come up with a vaccine, right?)

This is disingenuous. Nobody wants to stop researchers and doctors. We just want to stop the parasites who hold sick people hostage to generate profits.

If you nationalize drug R&D and remove the profit motive you get researchers doing their work, doctors treating people, and the population having their medical needs met. You just don't get a bunch of business and finance sociopaths getting rich by withholding their products and killing others.

Re: Covfefe-19: Do What Now?

I’ve read that the CDC infectious diseases lab funded by GW was in the process of perfecting vaccines against varieties of Coronavirus (not sure which ones) when Trump decided to shut down the program and divert the funds to propping up his failing golf resorts overseas. Remember in November!

Re: Covfefe-19: Do What Now?

China expelling US journalists in retaliation for US sanctions on certain Chinese media companies. That's what we need right now, folks.

Please gather up all these apes the world over who seek power and shoot them into the sun.

Presumably this is urgent enough to combine or overlap some of the elements of medical... but still: a long time away.

Well, until that happens I suggest we not kill Big Pharma.
