Covfefe-19: Do What Now?

On the other hand, being contained helps not spread it.

Bottom line: wash/sanitize everything, if one wants to/must go out, make it the briefest contact, take precautions.

Don't get me wrong, there ARE new cases, but the truly NEW cases aren't spreading as high as the numbers indicate, overall. Incubation is still, what, 2-14 days? Someone could have it for 10 days, finally get tested, and it's called a "new case" in the reporting.

Rest assured we are way behind the curve. Because Trump, who I voted for, decided to not head warnings from several intellectuals. Fact.

The amount of harm I see other doctors cause because of the urge to "do something" is high and it should be avoided when you do not have the evidence backing*. Most residents have to learn the hard way that doing nothing is often the best course of action.



*One exception is the line not coined by me of "no one dies on my service without a course of steroids"

I would trust that doctor weighing all the options, and either saying, "Well, this will either do nothing bad, or it might help, I dunno," and then administering it, or "Yeah, this will do something bad, so I think I will not administer it."

If I could take back my vote I would. This is straight honesty. I had to chose between a pathological liar and a dumb ****. I chose the dumb ****.

Trust in your physician is generally good...but I would have caution trusting most physicians weighing a drug like hydroxychloroquine pros and cons on treating a new, poorly understood illness, especially one that resolves on its own so frequently. Doctors are human, full of bias, and motivated to help and heal. This leads to much good but incredible errors in judgement and misunderstanding of relationships between interventions and outcomes.

I probably know several hundred physicians and for every doctor I would trust to make this kind of "call" I can think of 10 that I would not. (Not that it is their fault. This is why we have evidence based medicine to help prevent the human errors we all make).

One should be cautious spreading bullsh—t cures because just as bad as the macroscale damage it causes to the medical system, is the microscale damage it causes by providing false hope to a family that probably doesn’t even get to be with their loved one as that person drowns in his own fluids. And because the healthcare system is so overwhelmed, visitors next get to see their family member by collecting him at the back door in a bag.


Sorry, that was harsh but needed to be said. What trump has said and is now being aped by every person without letters after their name is ****ing dangerous.

STOP REPEATING BULLSH-T THAT TRUMP SAYS. Everything that comes out of his vile mouth should be treated with contempt. Everything.

Our closure edicts were extended to 12 April, along with an added curfew from 5p to 4a beginning tomorrow.

Breaking curfew can get one a $33,000 fine and/or 3 yrs in prison.

Nope. This was just a general relief valve that finally went off. Had to release the pressure.

Whitmer has shut down hair salons, nail spas, tattoo/piercing, and other "personal care" places until April 13. She allowed churches to remain open if they wanted to. I think in terms of churches, it was a "dammed if you do..." situation.

My church already shut down until May 10. Virtual services are weird.
