THis is normal

They're so stupid they probably do not understand the germ theory of disease.

It's not in the Bible.

Our only hope is trump gets it. Maybe someone can step in then. I don’t care who.

“ BREAKING: Just before the chamber was scheduled to vote, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said he would not support a Democrat-led coronavirus bill that would require employers to grant paid sick leave and bolster unemployment benefits, in addition to ensuring free diagnostic testing.”

Is the hold up who pays?

If it doesn't hurt Americans and make corp. richer its a non starter. Also doesnt help that it would make dems look good.

Re: Covfefe-19 2020 part the second: Wash Your Hands

My boss just asked me to draft the emergency preparedness plan for our work site (I'm the only person here who can spell). I told him I would recommend asking our employer for funding in case we need to quarantine in place if one of us tests positive, so we don't bring it home to our families. Bring in bedding, fund meals and overtime if appropriate. Also: not to force employees who cannot come in to burn their PTO but find other means.

He looked at me for a long time thinking "of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world and I hire Karl Marx."

So there is a nuance to the terms the major league sports teams are using to announce their shutdown, these leagues are technically "suspending" their seasons.

Why use the word "suspending?" Because this allows them to keep the money for tickets sold without offering refunds.

Also, insurance companies are hitting back by stating that unless specific riders were added to insurance plans, team owners cannot come crawling to them with hat in hand looking for a check.

The *only* cases where insurance would pay out is if a local health department limited fans and teams reacted accordingly.

Being pro-active, like the NBA and South-by-Southwest, will (likely) be ineligible to file claims for this.

I just got an alert that the Big Ten Tourny game between Iowa and Minnesota is cancelled...

I wonder if the B1G will pull their teams out from the NC$$s.

While that is smart now...the amount of backlash they will receive later over this is going to be ridiculous. I get it...but just dumb.

Suspending the season is fine, because in theory a month from now everything could be different. But they will end up having to change course if this lasts for a couple of months and they dont resume. They back track later will look ten times worse.

If you're talking about the insurance companies they don't care how they "look," they're part of the vampire squid.

"We don't care. We don't have to. We're the phone company."

Re: Covfefe-19 2020 part the second: Wash Your Hands

Someone said this shouldn’t be a big deal because coronavirus (SARS) is listed on Lysol. I said it’s not going to be completely effective against this one because it’s a different strain.

Response? “Well, it’s like the flu shot protects against some, but not all strains.”

Sigh... yeah, that’s my point...

Then went on to say everyone is making too big of a deal out of it, before demanding to know if there were any extra cleaning measures being done overnight. Also said it was ridiculous for people to be buying all these wipes and sanitizers before complaining that they couldn’t get any themselves.

I think the NC$$s is going to cancel. The Big Ten (I hate that stupid made up name they have now) was worried when Hoiberg got sick but he just had the flu...if they cancelled a game someone tested positive. If that is the case the entire BTT gets cancelled, and no Big Ten in the NC$$s means they probably cancel that as well.

We are no longer in the "slippery slope" part of the issue everything is a domino now. I assume my school will go all online after break next week. Thankfully my classes wont be affected cause I prepare :)

Mark Cuban is on CNBC right now and says that he fully expects the NBA season to extend on into the summer. There isn't anything preventing the league from doing that.

Selfishly, while all the conference tournaments are canceled, I’m hoping the NCAA simply “postpones” their tournament. May Madness? June Madness? Lets do it.

I am talking about the sports leagues.

Oh. Yes, they should all suspend. MLB should suspend now before the season starts.

But the Frozen Four should continue because god d-mnit we have a chance!!!!

Narrator: The Frozen Four should not have continued, but he was old and he understood mortality.

He can say what he wants...he doesnt know how long this is going to last and the NBA season already goes til June. The NBAPA will pitch a fit if they have to play games in August. Not to mention their already sagging ratings will go in the toilet against the onslaught of the NFL in the summer.

Not to mention Cuban is hated by the rest of the league which means they might do it just to spite him ;)

That's a great idea. Lake Placid is beautiful in July.

Yuck no. It will be a disaster plus what about eligibility rules that could come into play? March Madness works because of the buildup...a 4 month gap between games and no one will care.
