Latest update from the firm as I clean out my inbox tonight is that the directives remain unchanged at this time. Non-essential international travel is out, domestic still OK unless your client tells you to work remotely.

The bad news - given who my client is at the moment, the current contract renewal cycle could not be happening at a worse time.

Oh I will. But I meant in situations like this when do the smart people know taking measures like cancelling all events is no longer necessary? What do they need to see to determine that? How long of a timeframe is expected for the current level of concern everyone has? At some point lives must go on.

My uneducated guess? When they know exacts on the Coronavirus. How it forms, spreads, treatments. They won't be able to eliminate it, much like the real flu, but they'll know how to control it, to a point. That's when they'll lift the bans on these events and such.

There isn’t a definitive answer yet. We don’t have a lot of basics mapped out on this virus yet.

In some ways, western nations like the US will really struggle as so many people put their needs first over everyone else’s - seeing multiple cases now of people told to quarantine who ignore, go to stupid events and infect others

Don't know if possible but if you ignore a quarantine recommendation you should be fined heavily--at least.

Singapore is taking away permanent residency from people who violate. Don’t think anyone here in US has any charges yet but they should

Gonna be fun when they start seriously enforcing quarantines here. I can hear the screams about "muh rights!" from red state bumpkins and blue state richie-riches alike.

I’d think that there is a good bit of civil liability here. Our court system will probably cost these people a ton of money if caught doing this.

China has been "quarantining" bloggers who contested the official story. Dump would do the same if he could.

He certainly can in the short term, and in the long term just deal with the court slap on the wrist. For sure it's illegal, but it would hardly be the first civil liberties thing he attacked and got away with for a short time.
