Cornell@RPI 1/17/15

Re: Cornell@RPI 1/17/15

I can relate to this today. Our old dog has deteriorated quite suddenly over the last 2 weeks, and today has trouble raising her head. Hopefully just an illness from which she will recover but I'm afraid it may be a failing heart.

Hab: i am sure you will be doing the right thing. Our philosophy is as long as they can be what they are- and act what they are-a dog or a cat-we go on. Once they can no longer do that, we still go on as long as they are not in pain or suffering. Smaller dogs can live a long time(my daughter had a Bichon that almost made 20) but bigger dogs do not. My German Shepherd barely made 10 and Jen's Dobermans 11-12. Our heart goes out to you-it is hard to sit and watch and hopefully you are correct that it is just a short term illness. i do not envy the Vets who have to go by physical examination and tests only. Their patients cannot talk to them and tell them what they feel. I've always had it easier-i deal only with one species(they have to know every conceivable animal) and my patients can tell me what they feel. Good luck.

He better not have two named Jericho and FlagDUDE08 at the same time. :)

We have met Flagdude. In person he is a pretty neat guy. But the name does not lend itself well for a cat. Now, Jericho, after some thought.....that is a possibility.

Just don't use his real name. It's harder to spell than Rensselaer. :D

Knowing it's Cornell, I'd like to see us keep some size out there. BTW, did you see that in league play, Cornell averages about 22 minutes of penalties per game? And it was really enjoyable watching the young guys on the power play last night... Hey, just sayin.'

In the SA/MMcG post-game interview, I liked that McG talked about 'being a hard team to play.' This is what the ECAC is about down the stretch... unless your team is having a magical year you play hard, remember the kind of team you are and play to that coda night in and night out. As OGC said in the interview, 'you may not always get results when you play your way' but you end up with a positive result more often than not when you stick to your process.

You forget who they're playing. They'll spend hardly any time in the box.

This is kind of misleading, as it skews from a couple, um, interesting games. Generally speaking we haven't been taking a lot of penalties, and in those cases when we have it's a lot of those offsetting 2+5+10 ones. The numbers aren't translating to a lot of time on the kill.

The team is almost laughably immense, though. Hilbrich's listed as 6-7 and I swear that's a modest estimate, and a few of the other guys are at most a couple inches shorter. And several of those guys can really move.

So we have the usual size, some surprising speed, the Schafer System (TM) but are lacking in agility and offensive skills.

Wood and Melanson have switched lines.
Hope this is the right move-i would have changed nothing-chemistry is chemistry and last night the lines rolled and each one did their job. i am not in favor of changing what works. If it ain't broke..... But we shall see, perhaps SA sees that Cornell is different to play against and this might be effective. i just like the pairing of #23 and #25 with whoever else you want to put out there

Perhaps Appert is trying to play mind games with Schafer?
