Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Cops shoot a man. ZOMG he's in a wheelchair! THE POOR VICTIM! Wait, how about he puts his hands up when the officers ask him to, especially when he's already used the weapon he has on him?

http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/25/us/delaware-police-shoot-man-wheelchair/index.html
Full video shows him almost instantly getting shot with absolutely zero time to react by what was probably a less than lethal round. Or the fat cop just sucks at aiming a shotgun.
https://youtu.be/O7VreBFUons, cnn's video doesn't include that.

Not one of them could have gotten behind him? Ridiculous, not one attempt was made in that video to stop a possible suicide by cop.

Remember. It's just a few bad apples.

At least they gave him his disability...

The article nails it...even if he failed to identify himself as a cop why the heck were they beating him up? (didnt sound like he threatened them in any way) Then why did they beat up his son?

Oh don't worry, they investigated themselves and found they did nothing wrong.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

So if a guy has a gun in his belt, and the cops are yelling at him to "drop the gun", how's he supposed to follow their directions if he can't remove the gun from his belt?

They'll justify their shooting either way, he wasn't complying, or he was going for this gun. But if he's going for his gun, isn't he then complying?

Here's one of the reports for the Tamir Rice shooting, calling the shooting reasonable. It's by a former FBI agent. I just skimmed most of it, but the section near the end caught my eye as some double speak worthy of any politician. She says officers are not "trained to 'shoot to kill,'" but just to stop an imminent threat. They're trained to do this by depriving the subject's brain of oxygen, and to do so by shooting the center mass which has the most blood bearing organs.

Of course, the other natural consequence of depriving the brain of oxygen is death, but they aren't trained to shoot to kill...

Officers are trained to shoot at the largest "mass" to stop a threat, since it's the largest mass and easiest to hit. That IS different than being trained to shoot to kill. You shoot a guy in the gut, well, he's not going anywhere, but that doesn't mean he's going to die.

Police officers are not expert marksmen like snipers. Headshots and shooting a gun out of the hand of an alleged perp is movie fiction. It CAN happen, rarely DOES happen, but the vast majority are chest-shots.

That wasn't her explanation, though. Her explanation was that they're trained to deprive the target's brain of oxygen to prevent conscious decision making.

The quickest, most efficient and practical way for a law enforcement officer to forcibly bring about a timely halt to threatening actions is to deprive the subject’s brain of the oxygen necessary to continue conscious action. Because oxygen is carried to the brain by blood, law enforcement officers are trained to aim for center mass where most of the blood-bearing organs are located.

In other words, kill the target.

Depriving the brain of oxygen doesn't lead to immediate death. Extended deprivation will, but oxygen deprivation frequently happens without death occurring. For example, strokes cause a deprivation of oxygen to the brain.

Either kill, or subject the "assailant" (remember, domestic terrorists are always the victim) to torture, violating plenty of portions of the Geneva convention.

Because the first thing they'll do after shooting the target is call for an ambulance and perform CPR. Sure, and I've got a bridge to sell you.
