Re: Congratulations Trinity!
Just to clear things up for those of you who actually want to acknowledge, understand, comprehend, and learn about the system that creates the DIII Mens Championship field, 1 loss by your team, 1 win by your team, 1 loss by another team, 1 win by another team, and simply just sitting idle and having other teams around you win and or lose 1 game CAN and DOES significantly determine your rank/position in the field due to the criteria the committee uses and the fact most teams in the Top 8-10 are so close ONE loss and/or win CAN and DOES change things...add in upsets in conference tournaments and on the flip side the predicted teams winning, it can free up and or eliminate Pool C bids and reshuffle the teams in the running for a Pool C bid.
...and to add more to what Prez said, Trinity's Coach acknowledged their SOS hurt their chances at the tournament last year and a major reason why they are upping their NC schedule (we've already heard Trinity to Norwich Tourn.)
