Congrats MacNaughton champs

Re: Congrats MacNaughton champs

So, I sent a nasty email to Bruce. Kept it clean but expressed my displeasure. He said St. Cloud requested it to be presented to them next weekend. Which would be believable unless Lucia was the sneakiest most underhanded coach of all time. But he and Motzko are friends so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

I hope they celebrate it with the fans on Saturday too then, since I won't be able to be there for Friday's Game 1. Darn work!

Re: Congrats MacNaughton champs

Has the WCHA ever successfully handled the Cup for tied winners. Don't forget, MN got screwed over in 1997 when they shared it with the team with no-name, and they never let MN see it.

They presented it to the Gophers Saturday night in 1997. I was at the game. IIRC the Gophers had to wait until the Whioux game was over and the cup was presented and skated with those if us who stuck around.

I liked it. It fit the Jan Brady meme perfectly. There team blows their chance to win it outright against the evil red menace, and they are tearfully whining that it is always about Marcia...priceless.

Re: Congrats MacNaughton champs

Congratulations to the St. Cloud State University Huskies for their share of the WCHA Championship. Great regular season.

Re: Congrats MacNaughton champs

Congrats to both the Minnesota Gophers and SCSU Huskies on winning and sharing the MacNaughton Cup in their final season of the WCHA.

To the guys that deliberately came into our thread to gloat after a stinging one goal loss I can only say they must also be surprised when they get stung when they stick their hands into a hornets nest. NO accountability for their actions but they blame the reactions of the hornet. They are on par with UAAfanblog and JDubbs.

Re: Congrats MacNaughton champs

Congratulations to SCSU on winning their first WCHA championship! Big moment for the team, the program, and your fans.

Re: Congrats MacNaughton champs

While I'm extremely proud that St. Cloud State finished their final WCHA season with their 1st ever regular season championship, I also tip my cap to the Gophers on an excellent season themselves. Pretty fitting that the final season of the toughest conference in college hockey was probably the closest battle it's seen in quite some time. No time in the last decade has a team scored 29+ points in league play and NOT gotten home ice, and UN-O gets that unlucky distinction of going on the road after getting 30 points. Also kinda fitting that SCSU and Minnesota are the two teams at the top, with SCSU becoming an emerging power with young talent (2 high-scoring freshman forwards, excellent sophomore goaltender), and Minnesota being the perennial contender.

Look forward to an exciting Final Five!

Saw an insane stat last night. Since joining the WCHA UNO is 1-11 in the month of March. That's insane.

Congratulations to the St. Cloud State University Huskies. it's not a bad thing that the final wcha champs are from minnesota.

Just looked that up, looks like that would be correct! They split their final reg season series 2 years ago, otherwise they've been swept in the other 2 reg season series, and have been swept in all 3 1st round series. Brutal.

Strange as it sounds coming from a Sioux fan, it is kind of cool, especiallly since it's SCSU's first.

Sir, I'm going to ask that you take your thoughtful, mature, professional, and sportsmanship words and leave.

Such words have no place in this thread.

Please everyone, resume your irrational behavior.

Now this is a nice little story. However, after seeing Motzko's quote on the location of the Cup, something still doesn't smell right to me.
