Bjugstad coasted this year. Rolled up pp points. With his talent, he should of dominated at a much higher level. I think he should have been left off all together. In regards to the rookies, Brodzinski got shafted. Amazing plus/minus. Only 1 of his goals on the powerplay. Busts his arse on both ends of the rink. It is a tragedy to not have him as one of top rookies. They did get some of it right though. LaBlanc deserved player of the year. He was clearly the most important individual for his teams success. SCSU needs to take care of business in round one. Would it not be unreal to have the top seed, a co-league title, the player of the year, the defensive player of the year and not make the NCAA's? Congrats to all league award winners.

Wilcox had a great regular season, especially as a Freshman. He deservedly received a lot of credit from Twin Cities media. But anyone with a pulse knew by early Feb. that Williams was the odds-on favorite for Rookie of the Year. Heck, even back in January when the two played each other it was billed by the TC media as a duel, and it was clear who won that duel.
I don't think you could have found any serious commentator in the past month or two that would have argued Wilcox was the best goaltender, or best freshman, in the league.

But despite Williams having a better year, Wilcox still had a great freshman season and earned the buzz he was awarded by local media. I'm not really sure what your gripe is. Did St. Cloud media give as much hype to Schmidt as they did Jenson? Did Mankato media give Haula as much hype as they gave Hayes? Who do you think go more ink in the Denver Post, Boivin or LaLeggia?

As a longtime Denver season ticket holder I must say I am surprised that Joey LaLeggia received second team recognition. Frankly, he hasn't played nearly as well this season as he did last season. He was justifiably accorded many accolades last season, but his performance thus far this season pales in comparison to that of his freshman year. Just my $.02.

How is MTU not the team of the year in the WCHA? We beat both league champions and lost to the #12 team. That kind of flexibility in a team's game needs to be recognized with team of the year. We also finished in the bottom half of the conference for the 20th straight season. That is what you call consistency my friends.

Honestly... I don't think they got screwed. There are 6 guys that you could make an argument for as rookie forwards, Brodz, Kossila, Petan, Cameranesi, Farley and (if you count him as a rookie) Jesus Boy. You can't really go wrong with any of them as your team, and somebody has to sit out on the end.

Honestly, I am SHOCKED LeBlanc and Jensen won. LeBlanc didn't have the numbers of Walters or Kristo, and Jensen really didn't have the numbers of other defensemen in the league. They looked at intangibles and defense, and that surprises the hell out of me.

Agreed. I thought it was a misprint. I had to look at it several times.
