Commitment List 2013

Re: Commitment List 2013

10-4,also dont think they could do muich worse than they did this yr,a goaltending battle may be what they need, not sure but this yr didnt seem like a battle but more like who cares, I'm sure jconner knows more

Sad to see a storied program like Elmira fall on tough times.

Re: Commitment List 2013

I wouldn't get too caught up in those numbers. I've certainly seen good numbers in juniors turn out not so good in D3, so we'll just have to wait and see! :)

If you do the math, the kid was facing 42 shots per game on average.

Re: Commitment List 2013

W/L record and GAA can be very dependent on the team in front of you. In many cases on really good teams the guy with the best GAA and highest winning percent is the backup goalie, because he plays against the second rate opponents and has a good defense in front of him.

On the other hand, there are some goalies who are really good, but find the deck stacked against them because they have no defense in front of them. You really have to see a guy play
'
It was just a few short years ago that McDonald looked to be a wall in the net for Elmira... IMHO he was a solid goalie with talented/experienced defensemen like Martin Lee etal in front of him. When the group in front of him became mostly inexperienced freshman he (as well as DeMelo) took too many quality shots. No one would have been able to salvage the season in goal.

Re: Commitment List 2013

Generally speaking, Plattsburgh is having a phenomonal recruiting season. This should really kick-start the dozen freshman who played great hockey this year. Can't wait!!

Re: Commitment List 2013

I think the key is to put together two great recruiting years in a row. Not as easily done as said. Sometimes the players don't adapt to the game regardless of their junior league performance. But if you can get those two classes in a row you're in business. The Cards of '07-08 were stocked with freshman and made it to the NCAA title game vs. St. Norbert. But it wasn't until the following year they really blossomed. An unlikely loss at home to Neumann in the NCAA quarters prematurely ended a wonderful season at 25-2-2. That group also returned to Lake Placid the third year.

Re: Commitment List 2013

He 's already got a couple of D. and looking at some goalies he said on B. T. B. Also looking for a couple more forwards I guess. Pretty loaded there.
got the BIG guy from the jr sabers, wonder how well he can skate??

yes need 2 in a row for sure, I think / hope Oz will be in the platty position after they bring in 15 or so recruits this yr/nextseason,probably 3 or 4 will excell and a few will need time to crank it up, next yr for the birds should be the crank it up yr for the sophs,to compliment the rest of the returnees

Re: Commitment List 2013

Joshua Koerner recently signed a commitment to play the next four years at Plattsburgh University SUNY. He has been a member of the Florida Jr. Everblades of the Empire Junior Hockey League for the past three seasons - including leading the league in scoring so far this season.
