The last two CC goals were poor plays by the defensemen. I think it was Ramage on the second goal played the man with the puck and did not take away the pass, leaving Bennett out to dry. The last goal McDonough picked a bad time to carry the puck in, late in a tie game, then to lose it. As soon as he lost it my thoughts were cr@p, only one d-man back.

Fair enough. I admire your passion to stick with your team. I'm sure they will come out with all barrels a blazing Saturday night.

There's a big part of me that is right with CCtig. I was on my feet and pumping my fist over this win. This CC team is incredibly young and has NO expectations this season, so I think winning their first road game of the season in a place like Wisconsin is huge no matter what happens tomorrow night.

Overall I think Wisconsin carried more of the play than CC but, as is typical for most CC teams, they are great in transition and on odd man rushes. This is another good skating Tigers team who will have to take advantage of any mistakes made by opponents this year in order to win, and that's exactly what happened tonight.

Good to see the Badgers pick up right where they've left off the last 3 seasons...being gracious hosts and giving away WCHA points like they are no big thing. They didn't control play enough to say with certainty they should have won, but they had to get at least a point. CC had no business winning that game.

I didn't hear anything about Geoffrion, but they don't need him out for any length of time. Being short a center means Street has to log a ton of ice time and he has a long way to go before he's fully back. He was just kind of standing there on the game winner instead of locking the guy up.

Quick thoughts. I felt UW carried the play for 2/3 of the game. That said, you have to win when you do that. They didn't. 0-1. We wan't doer's out there not dreamers so they better learn lessons quick.

Re: Davies. I'd be upset if he were a Jason Zent, Dany Heatley, or Pavelski-type player being benched for attitude or poor work ethic.

Hell, Doug McDonald had a **** work ethic BUT...he put up HUGE numbers. Davies posting 20-25 points is great, but that's not the type of numbers where I'd *seriously* balk at the decision to sit him, or question the coach.

and, Stepan, C. Smith, and several others looked to have some serious jump tonight.

UW also looked speedier than last season, and more than 1 guy had a nice almost Rhino-esque stickhandling move....

thoughts?

Thurber is a center, he can play tonight.

Re: Colorado College @ Wisconsin - KC opening to the Doors

I thought this game was little reminiscent of last year. Out played them most of the game, out shot them, defensive mistake -- shot-n-a-goal CC.
I'm not ragging, but Bennett made the saves he should make, now make the save that saves the game.

That place was a morgue last night; very embarrassing. Not a tough place to play for an opponent at all. I was yelling and had, um, "elderlies" looking at me like I was drunk.
Time to head to the Camp & stomp on some bumble bees.

Sorry to hear Testwuide was injured. If he has the grit of big brother, J.P., he will be back soon.

Great weekend Tigers!! Awesome that you took three of four points from the Badgers on their home ice. Go Tigers!!

Re: Colorado College @ Wisconsin - KC opening to the Doors

Congrats to CC on taking 3 of 4 points on the road. This is a big boost of confidence for such a young team. If they can continue to improve each week then I think they will finish a lot higher in the WCHA then a lot of people thought that they would. I have to disagree with one of the previous posters below that said CC had no business winning Fridays game. Anytime you go into a hostile environment with a freshman goaltender who was starting his first game on the road and makes almost 40 saves I think the win is deserved. CC did shut them down after falling behind early and battled back for the win so they did earn it as well as last nights tie.
