College Hockey Invitational Tournament Field Announced

RPI fan 4 life

Season Ticket Holder since 1974
Here is the field for the first annual CHIT. Quarterfinals will be played on campus sites with the Not so Frozen Four to take place at MSG:

8- Dartmouth at 1- Western Michigan
7- Providence at 2- Robert Morris
6- Brown at 3- Boston University
5- Alaska at 4- Rensselaer

Apologies to CC and Michigan as teams that do not have a .500 record are not eligible.

Comments?

Is this a serious thing?

Re: College Hockey Invitational Tournament Field Announced

The annual "College Hockey NIT" thread got started early this year!

Re: College Hockey Invitational Tournament Field Announced

There was once a real College Hockey NIT, back in 1974.

Re: College Hockey Invitational Tournament Field Announced

Didn't know that Ralph. How many teams and where were they played?

Duluth, 4 teams

Here's the info from an old Intercollegiate Hockey Newsletter

semis: UVM 3 Lake State 2, Duluth 6 St Louis Univ 3
consolation St Louis 7 Lake State 5
championship Duluth 7 UVM 4

IIRC, UVM was still ECAC-2 back then.

Edit: The name was National Invitational Hockey Tournament (NIHT).

Here's a clue for you: if Michigan and CC would have won their last game, they wouldn't need no stinkin CHIT tourney. Michigan was a .500 team until they lost yesterday. Didn't check CC's record. :p

Re: College Hockey Invitational Tournament Field Announced

Quite an NIT rivalry brewing between PC and Bobby Mo considering they played/are playing each other in hoops.

Re: College Hockey Invitational Tournament Field Announced

Not such a bad idea here. More hockey for those who can't get enough. If they can do it for hoops why not hockey?

And we can have the CHI (College Hockey Invitation) instead of the CTI and the CIT (Collegiate Insiders Tournament) too! :D

Re: College Hockey Invitational Tournament Field Announced

That's BS, Michigan destroyed western in their own building.

Dammit, I miss hockey season already. :(

Can the NCAA tournament expand to 32?

Re: College Hockey Invitational Tournament Field Announced

I move that this tourney be renamed to the Scholar's Hockey Invitational Tournament.
