College Hockey Imperialism

Storylines:

-Cornell defeats both Yale and Brown on consecutive days to take over Yale's old territory.
-Clarkson defeats RPI on Friday to consolidate their land in the midwest, but loses to Union on Saturday, who regains its old territory and more.
-Princeton defeats Dartmouth 7-1 on Friday to take Dartmouth's land in New Hampshire. Princeton then ties with Harvard 4-4 on Saturday to keep its new territory.
-Quinnipiac defeats Harvard 5-3 on Friday to keep their land (and also preventing Harvard from once again gaining land), but loses 5-1 to Dartmouth on Saturday, giving Dartmouth different territory from what they originally had.
-North Dakota sweeps Wisconsin, taking over their land.
-BU ties Northeastern on Thursday, and then defeats them 4-1 for their first win of the season on Saturday to take over their territory.
-St. Cloud sweeps Colorado College, taking over their chunk of the Southwest in addition to parts of Alaska and Hawaii.
-Air Force sweeps Army, taking control of their one county in Massachusetts.
-Ferris State splits with Michigan State, but wins the goal differential 7-6 to take some land back in Michigan.

Re: College Hockey Imperialism

Love the idea but think you should have used an equal pop district map:

<img src="https://images.dailykos.com/images/146447/story_image/Intro1.png?1433269941">

Start with each team occupying only its home district. With each win expand one (except or home), with each loss contract one.

Even better, just use a single TEAM cell map like this and allow teams to overwrite each other. A home can only disappear when defeated by a direct cell neighbor.

If that means Bridgeport and the endless traffic jams on the Conn. Turnpike and Merritt Pkwy, you can have it back. Long Island might be a different story if that tiny piece includes The Hamptons.

If it meant everything east of the Port Jefferson ferry, I would gladly serve as NU's ambassador.

Did Yellowstone blow up? :)

Re: College Hockey Imperialism

So this weekend's border battle between Wisconsin and Minnesota was a fight over no land? (I guess its a good thing they split.........)

Re: College Hockey Imperialism

And Cornell takes over Marquette County in the UP.

That's, uhh, not now this works.

Cornell wins NMU's current territory: North Dakota, Northwest Minnesota, and Northeast Montana. (Thanks to NMU previously beating Bemidji in total goals, and Bemidji beating North Dakota before that). NMU already ceded their starting territory by losing in total goals to Michigan State.

Thanks to Michigan Tech's sweep of Ferris, MQT county is now Husky territory. *vomit*

Re: College Hockey Imperialism

Also, if I'm seeing this right (prior to this past weekend), are Mankato, Denver, Lake State, and Penn State the only schools to not lose their home territory?

Denver, UMass, BGSU, Lake State, Penn State, Mankato. IIRC. Union lost theirs to RPI but won it back from Clarkson. Lake State and Denver both lost their territories this week, though.

Re: College Hockey Imperialism

Soo, Northeastern with a weekend sweep and all they get to show for it are a couple of abandoned buildings in Lowell and a traffic jam somewhere near Hartford?

-Cornell sweeps Northern Michigan to take over their land.
-Princeton defeats Union 4-3 in Overtime on Friday to take their chunk of territory in the Midwest, and defeats RPI 4-1 on Saturday to keep their land.
-St. Cloud sweeps Denver to connect their land on the West Coast.
-Michigan Tech sweeps Ferris State to take back some land on the Upper Peninsula.
-Alaska ties Lake Superior on Friday, but defeats them on Saturday to finally earn back some land.
-Penn State demolishes Robert Morris, and now extends their land towards Lake Ontario
-Brown defeats Dartmouth 4-2 on Friday, and then promptly loses to Harvard 5-2 on Saturday, meaning that Harvard finally gets land. Ugh.

This week's map: https://i.imgur.com/Tum8Dg8.png

-Quinnipiac defeats Cornell 4-2 on Friday, while Colgate defeats Princeton 2-1 at the same time. Quinnipiac defeats Colgate 5-0 on Saturday to take over both Cornell and Princeton's land.
-Lake Superior splits the series with Bowling Green, but wins the overall goal differential 7-5, causing Bowling Green to lose territory for the first time all season.
-Maine splits with BU, but wins the goal differential 5-4 and takes their land
-Michigan splits with Penn State, but wins the goal differential 12-11, and causes Penn State to lose territory for the first time all season.
-Alabama-Huntsville splits with Alaska, but wins the goal differential 4-3, and takes some land back in Michigan and Massachusetts.
-Clarkson sweeps Michigan Tech to gain back some territory.
-Western Michigan sweeps North Dakota and takes over their land
-AIC sweeps Air Force, and takes their single county in Massachusetts.
-Denver splits with Minnesota-Duluth, but wins the goal differential 5-4, so it takes all of Duluth's massive chunk of land.

Re: College Hockey Imperialism

As if it wasn’t already an important enough series to begin with, there’s alot of land up form grabs in the UMass-Quinnipiac home and home this weekend.
