College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

I saw a QB that still can't make the right decision 3 times in a row, an offense that get's far too predictable as the game goes on...it's like they have 200 plays but only plan to use 8 of them each game.

I guess it works sometimes (punter?) but Kelly screaming at everybody as they come off the field is going to get old fast. I don't think Crist needs to spend all of his time after an unsuccessful series getting screamed at. There is a point at which you realize the people on your staff aren't suddenly going to get smarter etc and then you need to lead them...screaming at your QB all game isn't sending him out there next time with confidence...he looks more tentative than he did early in the year.

He came to the school as a pro-set style QB and is obviously struggling with the new offense...ripping him a new one every frickin series isn't suddenly going to make him a spread QB.

Ruffer has been great on FG's but last night was struggling to hit the 15 on kickoffs.

BC is bad...if they played Stanford it would be 60-0; that the Irish were struggling with them and their 2 first time QB's tells me that they better take advantage of the weak part of their schedule and vastly improve or they are at least looking at losing to Utah, USC and losing a bowl game to finish the year.

Part and parcel with Kelly. I've gone to games where you could hear him chewing guys out on the sidelines.

Boise gets leapfrogged by Oregon. I would totally love if four or more teams would go undefeated. The BCS would implode on itself.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

I'm conflicted; on one hand, it's good for the conference if a Pac10 team goes undefeated, possibly playing for the NC. On the other hand, I reallllllly don't want it to be Oregon.

You would prefer it to be Cal?

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Gameday doesn't like doing Sparty games. Ever wonder why there is a mesh screen behind the commentators?

That would be a good reason if the game was in East Lansing, but it's not.

I'm leaning more towards SEC/Bama/Saban slurpfest.

You had a PAC 10, SEC and Big XII team go undefeated once already. No one batted an eyelash. They even excluded the SEC team.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Gameday at South Carolina = weak. So sick of Alabama and Saban.

Michigan State at Michigan is a lot more compelling IMO.

There will still be plenty of green in Ann Arbor.

Although I'm not sure where they set up the Gameday booth any more. They've gotten progressively closer to the field over the years, and done more to keep fans away from the booth, so maybe it wouldn't have been an issue.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

I'm not sure what makes you think that, it didn't happen last year.

My dream scenario would be TCU-Boise both going undefeated while the big conference teams have 1-2 losses. (preferably 2) I'd love to see the BCS wiggle their way out of that situation.

I've been saying that ESPN's been riding South Carolina this year like they're something other than the 7-5 team that they are every other year. "They could win the East this year instead of Florida," and other such rot.

Now they can spend an hour talking up the program like Spurrier's doing something other than golfing in his spare time and pretend that game will be something other than a 35-0 Alabama win.

Michigan-Michigan State would be better, Florida State-Miami might be as interesting, and I'd argue that LSU-Florida is a bigger game in the SEC this weekend, as we see how Florida responds in defeat and if Les Miles can be restrained from making clock decisions late.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

There are much better games to choose for GameDay. This whole South Carolina-Alabama love is ridiculous. LSU-Florida is a bigger game in the SEC. Mich-Mich State would be my ideal choice.

Well, I'm pretty sure that's about the only way either side there would tolerate a BCS bowl rematch is if both squads are in The BCS Bowl for the big crystal football bowl trophy. :D

Nick Saban: Did I stutter?

“Is that South Carolina? I guess I must stutter. Did I stutter? I’m not very clear on how I articulate. Maybe I need to go back to West Virginia and get some more hillbilly slang and maybe everybody can understand me a little better.”

Okay, I detest the SOB as much as anyone else, but that's pretty **** good stuff.

Rivals Radio has warped my consciousness. There the alphabet goes all the way from AL to AU. :)

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Just got home from the Heights and ND's sound beating of the Angry Chickens. My thoughts on the game:

- Well-played by the Irish, but they need to stop the fumbles. They got lucky on that second one only leading to a field goal. It could have gotten much uglier.

- Surprising amount of penalties by BC. A lot of them were holding calls, caused by solid pressure applied all night by the Irish (something not seen in a while)...but it was clear that the Irish intent was to harass the QB, both of them, in order to disrupt the offense.

Decent game, but put it in the books where it belongs and focus on Pitt next.

Glad I got to see the Irish win and Alumni Stadium empty out like a rat's nest on a sinking ship.

They reversed their trend of looking worse every week. They aren't a bad team (3 losses all to teams in the top 20) but they would struggle to be .500 in a good conference. They have a long way to go, but the offense won't be the problem in the end.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Another meaningless FSU/Miami game this weekend. I remember when those were the game of the year in college football...
