100%. It's not as if 16 will eliminate the controversy over who is in or out. More makes it worse- especially 16, since it's now fishing between 2 and 3 loss teams.Should obviously be 8 teams with no auto bids but they’ll clearly never do that.
Easy solution to this is to have all conferences get autobids. Gives the top teams a playing bye and rewards the smaller conferences with some cash to develop the bigger teams starters next season.100%. This is the best answer but will never be implemented.24 with autobids, matching FCS' system since FCS and FBS are roughly the same size, or split P4 and G5 into separate subdivisions at this point. This modified autobid system makes no sense and FBS is the only level of sport in the country, pro or amateur, I can think of that doesn't have all conference or division champions make the playoffs.
They also need to move the timing up to match the FCS. The fact that there are two MORE rounds is stupid. College football ends on New Years Day. ESPN is trying to double dip with the CFP and the NFL playoffs.24 with autobids, matching FCS' system since FCS and FBS are roughly the same size, or split P4 and G5 into separate subdivisions at this point. To do that they either need to move the start of the season to mid-August or get rid of conference championship games. They also need to move the timing up to match the FCS. I don't think they need that long of a break. Even if it were just the semi's right now, I kind of think that would be ok- but two more freaking week??? Seriously? To do that they either need to move the start of the season to mid-August or get rid of conference championship games.
Sweet words.Doesn’t look like Bama is coming back this time.
It’s not the break as much as the calendar doesn’t work some years to get 13 games. If Thanksgiving falls the last week it allows FCS 12 games, but normally they’ve been playing 11. Add in Army/Navy and it gets more complicated.I don't think they need that long of a break. Even if it were just the semi's right now, I kind of think that would be ok- but two more freaking week??? I think Indiana could have 126 days between games with no ill effects.Taking nothing away from Miami (I'm glad they won) Oh10 St having 25 days between games is ridiculous. Indiana playing today has 26.
