College Football 2025

So seeing how we are now 0-6 for teams that got a bye, this will surely change to 16 teams sooner than later.

Also- seeing the "crowd" at the Orange Bowl, how in the world can't they do these games on campus???? This game reminds me of the first round for the frozen four.

100%. It's not as if 16 will eliminate the controversy over who is in or out. More makes it worse- especially 16, since it's now fishing between 2 and 3 loss teams.
Easy solution to this is to have all conferences get autobids. Gives the top teams a playing bye and rewards the smaller conferences with some cash to develop the bigger teams starters next season.

24 with autobids, matching FCS' system since FCS and FBS are roughly the same size, or split P4 and G5 into separate subdivisions at this point. This modified autobid system makes no sense and FBS is the only level of sport in the country, pro or amateur, I can think of that doesn't have all conference or division champions make the playoffs.

This is the best answer but will never be implemented.

They also need to move the timing up to match the FCS. The fact that there are two MORE rounds is stupid. College football ends on New Years Day. ESPN is trying to double dip with the CFP and the NFL playoffs.

To do that they either need to move the start of the season to mid-August or get rid of conference championship games.

I don't think they need that long of a break. Even if it were just the semi's right now, I kind of think that would be ok- but two more freaking week??? Seriously?
It’s not the break as much as the calendar doesn’t work some years to get 13 games. If Thanksgiving falls the last week it allows FCS 12 games, but normally they’ve been playing 11. Add in Army/Navy and it gets more complicated.

But I think ESPN double dipping is less them trying to monopolize football and more making sure CFB doesn’t get shut out over the NFL. There’s a reason they sub licensed to TNT the two first round games that went against the NFL .

It's going to be rather uncomfortable in Tuscaloosa now.. Nobody is going to swoop in and take their coach.

That was an ass kicking in a big way. Cignetti had that team totally ready- other than the first drive- they just shoved it down bama's throats. On both sides of the ball. Well done, IU, well done.

Holy crap. Was getting off a plane right at halftime. By the time I checked in again, the Rose Bowl had turned into a dystopian wasteland. IU leveled the place.
