Sensible solution to a complex, difficult situation -- IMHO.
My feeling is that they hit the sweet spot. Anything less would have hurt recruiting and would have been unfair to Claeys. But don't forget that MN still needs to hire a permanent AD. Anything longer than 3 years would have tied the new AD's hands to such an extent that the job might have become less attractive to potential applicants.Probably not a bad move, or not one that was unexpected, but it'll be interesting to see if a three year deal hurts at all in recruiting.
