College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

Probably not a bad move, or not one that was unexpected, but it'll be interesting to see if a three year deal hurts at all in recruiting.
My feeling is that they hit the sweet spot. Anything less would have hurt recruiting and would have been unfair to Claeys. But don't forget that MN still needs to hire a permanent AD. Anything longer than 3 years would have tied the new AD's hands to such an extent that the job might have become less attractive to potential applicants.

Sensible solution to a complex, difficult situation -- IMHO.

Iowa and OSU will play and thus one will make it through there. Same with ND and Stanford, and you can probably throw Utah into that group too if Stanford plays them. And Clemson and Alabama probably control their destiny. The big question is what happens with the Big12 teams; if they all have one loss I think they're the odd man out. Heck, even an undefeated team from the Big12 only played 4 weeks of real football.

I think ND is in if they and Clemson win out. At that point their only blemish is a 2-point loss on the road to the #1.

Of course, the Irish have a history of blowing this type of situation by losing to BC...

3:30 was full of let downs. Indiana Indiana'd, Iowa State blew it against Okie State, and Cuse kept it close but couldn't pull it out against Clemson.

Let's thank the PAC-12 for competing in the College Football Playoff

Cue the talking heads in is this town spouting off about moral victories for another week. Hooray, we kept it close against a good team again! Time to celebrate! Eff this crap.

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

Of all the teams in contention, oklahoma really has to be kicking themselves. I know it's a rivalry game but losing to that texas team? Blown opportunity.

My ideal scenario has michigan winning big ten, keeping entire conference out. Stanford beating ND to knock them out. Bama somehow losing another game (not likely).

I think bama has easiest path to playoff. Can't see auburn or florida beating them. Where as ohio state has a tougher road. Same with clemson. North Carolina will give them a game.

Who makes it in your scenario? Clemson, Bama, Big XII, and...? Navy? Either Stanford or Michigan is still getting in if all that happens.

Second team from one of those conferences? Though even the second teams in each conference are getting hurt. FSU has two losses in the ACC; LSU has two losses and Florida would have two if they lose the CCG. Baylor and TCU could certainly find ways to pick up additional losses, as might OU. NW already has two; maybe both Iowa and OSU get in if there is a dearth of other one less teams (ignoring your scenario and assuming they both go 12-0 I guess; I dunno).

Just tired of moral victories. That's all we get in Minnesota. I realize the Gophers have a lot of injuries and were in no way expected to win this game, but I'm just tired of the whole "Well, we kept it close. Yay."

The two gopher fans in our group said the same thing tonight. Claeys needs to figure out his time management. Three weeks in a row he's mismanaged the game. Excellent creativity in the game plan though pulling out all the stops against Iowa tonight.

Not that it helps, but hats off to MN. Plenty of times tonight they could've packed it in and they were in it until the last minute. Gritty effort.

Iowa's defensive film session tomorrow will probably not be a whole lot of fun. However, I prefer correcting mistakes after a win rather than a loss, of course.

10-0. First time in school history. A chance to clinch the B1G West Saturday. I absolutely love this TEAM. I cannot believe the difference 11 months makes.

Also, Minnesota never had a possession in the second half while the game was within one score. For once, Iowa's offense consistently answered the bell.
