Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

Big Ten media days start today. Not much to expect besides the usual coach speak, but it does mean football season is that much closer. Coming up on a month or so.

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

Coaches Poll is out.

1. OSU
2. TCU
3. Bama
4. Baylor
5. Oregon
6. MSU
7. Auburn
8. FSU
9. Georgia
10. USC

Only other Big Ten team is Wisconsin at 18. Eight SEC teams in the Top 25, ten if you include the first two receiving votes.

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

Nm. I thought you were saying only one BT team was ranked.

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

Subscribed because Vegas has Minnesota at 5.5 wins. Honestly.

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

30 days until the season opener!

Some good games too. Usually Thursday is just some random games, but we've got UNC-SoCar, UM-Utah, and TCU-Minnesota.

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

I remember a few years back the Oregon State upset of #1 USC ws on a Thursday. I remember watching that at Joe Senser's

What do they have the over at? -150 or thereabouts?

I could see them setting a line like that, with a poor payout on the over. It's hard to look at Minnesota's schedule this year and just write in 6 wins you know are going to occur.

Set the line at 5.5 but give a poor payout on the over. Not that out of line.

Edit: Just checked 5Dimes. That's exactly what they did. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...mes-releases-2015-college-football-win-totals

Makes sense when framed like that.

Regarding Minnesota's schedule, I think you can put them down for:

4 Wins:
CSU
KSU
Ohio
Purdue

Should get 1 win from:
Illinois
Northwestern

That leaves:
TCU - Home
Nebraska - Home
Michigan - Home
Ohio State - Away
Iowa - Away
Wisconsin - Home

I wouldn't be shocked to see them get another win out of that last group. I think the line I would set at even money would be around 6.5

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

The Gophers own Neb and the Wolverines no longer scare anyone. ;) Every difficult game is at home except for OSU which would have been pencilled in as a L regardless.

That said 4 decades of mostly futile results even during the few and far between seasons when you felt optimistic reminds me that the first paragraph was me going crazy.

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

They also lost their senior QB and their coach.

That's right, forgot about that. Not sure why you slotted Michigan into that last group. Even Harbaugh didn't pull first year miracles at Stanford. Same with Nebraska, especially at home. Oregon State wasn't tearing up the conference.

For Minnesota I would say that "should get 1" group should really be "should get 2", and have UM and UNL in there.

Easy for you to say considering we've won the jug what? Once in the last 20 years? :)
