College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

That's a possibility. Of course last season an inferior ASU team played both down to the wire, and easily could have won both games, so I'd expect ASU to be an underdog in any title matchup that could happen, but have a shot at it nevertheless.

I wouldn't overestimate ASU if it comes to that. They may not grab the headlines like Stanford or Oregon, but they're the definite #3 team in the Pac for a reason. Their matchup at Oregon in two weeks should show us where they fall in relation to the teams at the top of the North.

You mean understimate?

This is what makes me nervous...
What do you have to be scared about? This is the best Wisconsin team in years! Enjoy every minute of this season. Enjoy expecting to win.

(Just hope that some other big ten teams get to 9 and 10 wins..:))

Is the reason the Pac-10 sucks? :D

(I know. Not sucky enough that UA won't still finish last.)

True. At least when this team disappoints, it'll still probably end up in the Rose Bowl.

Don't be sad with luck..two years ago my Hawkeyes were undefeated through 9 games, and let me tell you, we got very lucky that year. Good teams get lucky, and create their own luck. Illinois doesn't stand a chance to Wisconsin though, unfortunately. Illinois could easily get to ten wins though with how their schedule is set up.

a one loss Wisconsin better be in the Rosebowl, although I just honestly can'd see them losing a game until the big ten title game. and even there it may be a stretch. With 5 teams legitimately in the hunt in the Legends division, it's tough to say one can beat Wisconsin. We'll know more, such as if Nebraska and Iowa's defenses are improved, if MSU can get O Line help, if Northwestern can put it together, and if Michigan's defense is actually improved against real teams, as well as their passing game.

I'm hoping for a miracle along the lines of 1993. http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_ia/bigten/wisconsin/yearly_results.php?year=1990 Unfortunately, costing the Badgers a shot at the National Title that year is probably the most significant accomplishment for the Gophers since their 18th and latest Big Ten title in 1967.
As long as Wilson stays healthy, this team is a lock for the Rose Bowl at the least.

TCU to the Big 12. Are they replacing A&M or Mizzou?

Dunno, but the real question is who will also leave the Big XII. Here's TCU's last 20 years.

Pre 1994: TCU a member of the Southwest Conference
1994-5: 6 schools leave the SWC and end up in a different conference than TCU due to Big 8 raid
1996: TCU joins WAC
1999: 8 members (including 4 remaining founding members) leave the WAC
2001: TCU joins CUSA
2003-5: 8 members of CUSA decide to leave to Big East raid
2005: TCU joins Mountain West
2010: The two conference pillars, Utah (Pac-12 raid) and BYU decide to leave rather than spend another year with TCU
2011: TCU announces that it’s joining the Big East
2011: Pitt and Syracuse (the two remaining Big East members who were all sports since they add football) leave for the ACC
2011: TCU joins the Big 12

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

TCU has not accepted its invite to the Big 12 yet...though Im sure they will. Do they still have to pay the leaving fee for the Big East?

You would think they'd have to pay some sort of a fee or something?

TCU has shown great interest in wanting to join the Big 12 now that this is announced, and is said to "look forward to continue meetings with the Big 12"

Indications are that they will have to pay the $5 million, but won't have to stick with the 27 months since they were never "part" of the league.

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

I'm one of the biggest Big East supporters, but TCU had to do this. When Cuse and Pitt left, the conference died.
