I know it's the wrong thread, but it grinds my gears that there are 10,000 jersies for each team.

I tune into the Cal- Oregon game, and thought there must be an alternate game on- who is the team in all white? At least Oregon actually is wearing colors we've seen before.

As long as there are eejits who will buy third, fourth, ..., nth jerseys, they will continue doing it.

I would like to see a rule limiting teams to one road and one home uniform, but of course the NC$$ is what it is.

Which actually raises a dumb question- when did we all start buying jersies for games? As a student at Idaho, never saw it, but when I came to Michigan, I actually got a hockey jersey- intended to wear for IM games, but have worn it to all games.

So- when did the whole jersey thing start.

Good topic for the off season. Put that in the parking lot.

I'm no psychologist, but I'd guess that we all subconsciously feel like "part of the team" by wearing jerseys. It's like we're the "real" fans because we shell out $100+ for team apparel, compared to the bandwagoner in front of us wearing a $20 t-shirt.

As to exactly when the trend started - no clue. I'm only 24. ;)

I think you are right, I'm just trying to figure out when.

Kind of the time frame I figured, but was hoping that people who attened games remember.

It's an interesting thing to happen, when you see people in jackets and ties back 80 odd years ago, and that became a more casual to the point of jersies and painted bodies. not saying that it's bad, just interesting.

How far fetched do you think it would be if the Big XII-3+1 offers and invite to SMU. It would be another Southwest Conference team that would be back in the fold. Just a thought.

That's about the only way the Big XII stays together. I do wonder if they're at ten, they might opt to bring back the SWC name instead.

I think at this point Texas invites Tyler Community College if it keeps the conference alive.

So does that mean Rice is screwed? :D

Seriously, I wonder when Rice, SMU and Houston will get invites?

Iowa only wears black at home and white on the road, gold pants. Yeah, we're classic.;)
