Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

Larry Scott gave a press conference before LSU-Oregon. He seemed to be pretty down on the idea of a team joining his conference that wasn't willing to be a part of their regional network scheme. Would seem to rule out Texas.

I'm sure they could work something out. If OU, OSU, TT and A&M are leaving, there really won't be much of a conference left. Texas, Baylor, Iowa State, Missouri, Kansas and K-State doesn't sound very formidable. Mizzou could follow A&M to the SEC or they could realize their dream and the Integer could come calling. That would leave them with just five teams. What would Texas do then? Reconstitute the old Southwest Conference?

Since part of the Pac-12 deal is with ESPN and the Longhorn Network is also ESPN, they can come to some sort of agreement.

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

The PAC-12 regional deal is through FOX. They aren't going to lift a finger to help Texas and ESPN deal with the Longhorn Network.

The deal is with both.
While Scott was aggressive last year trying to expand Pac-10 membership to 16 teams, with Texas as the cornerstone, he said his motivation then was securing a lucrative TV contract. He's done that with a 12-team league by signing a $3 billion, 12-year deal with ESPN and Fox, the richest deal in college sports.

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

The PAC-12 Network is run between the schools and Fox, like the BTN, though. ESPN's part is their usual 1st and 2nd rights.

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

One of the six BCS conferences got through the weekend undefeated in non-conference games. The mighty Big East is 7-0 in NC play.

Bad day for the Colonial...only went 1-2 vs the ACC today :(

ETA: There was a typo in my spreadsheet, so the Big 12-2 is 9-0 in NC play. Both the Big East and Big 12-2 have one NC game tomorrow.

There's so much money floating around I'm sure they can work something out.
However, a source told ESPN's Schad that Pac-12 officials believe the parties could work through Texas' network issues.

Of course, this is all coming from ESPN so it could be a figment of Joe Schad's imagination :p

Boise State is about to defeat Georgia. 35-21 with 2:34 left and Boise has the ball.

CAA went 0-2 vs. the mighty MAC. Only got outscored 100-29. Lost to FBS teams not named Duke 122-40 today.

LSU now up 40-20 on Oregon.

So Boise State goes to SEC country and puts a whoopin on Georgia...

now now, everybody knows Boise State would go 3-5 against the SEC junior varsity. This was just a one-off.

Now I would love to see Georgia dominate the SEC East.

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

Did I miss the part where Georgia was suddenly something other than a team that went 6-7 (3-5) in the SEC last year? Boise State can join a group that includes Central Florida and Colorado in beating the Bulldogs in the last year. Clearly we should put the Broncos in the title game.

Man, as soon as TCU lost and BYU's mighty one point win over Old Miss I was really hoping BSU could finish the group off so I wouldn't have to listen to 3 months of "Does Boise State deserve a BCS title game bid for beating San Jose State and Missouri Tech 11 times?" Stupid farking Bulldogs.

Yes you did miss something, you missed how they were picked to be a SEC contender and darkhorse national champion. Perhaps you are seeing the last year of Mark Ritch.

The only reason they were getting that kind of talk is because they drew the lucky stick in SEC cross-over games. No Alabama, LSU, or Arkansas. Florida has Alabama and LSU, South Carolina has Arkansas. They get USCe at home, though they're only 3-18 against Florida in Jacksonville since 1990, so there's an automatic L.

Their schedule might have made them a 8-9 win team and/or division winner despite 6 win coaching. It didn't suddenly make them a good football team.

Only because they're in the East. Vandy could probably come out of that division. :)

Very satisfying. An Auburn loss would have been the cherry on top for SEC Haters.

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

The PAC 12 and the ACC lost to FCS teams, but who didn't... THE BIG EAST!!! Ha! Ha! Ha!

To be fair Richmond defeating Duke has become an annual tradition.... just pencil it in and move on.
