College Football 19-20: Where We Kinda Want Clemson As Champion.

I think Clemson is going to have to win a shootout if they are to advance to the title game. Ohio State will likely have the ability to run the ball all night. The Tigers need to stay a score ahead to help keep that in control tonight.

7-7 midway through the 1st.

Now 14-14 late in the 1st. Clemson really struggling to stop OSU. This could make the Georgia/Oklahoma semi from a few years ago look like a tight defensive matchup. Yeesh.

Clemson looks off. Ohio State completely dominating. Tigers not even trying to run the ball. If OSU scores here, it could be game over. I don't think Clemson's defense has enough stops in it to let them come back from 2+ scores. : - (

Dabo might regret punting from Clemson's 44 on 4th and 2 going forward. 45+ might be required to win this one.

Yeah. Clemson looks terrible. Ohio State doing whatever they want on offense. Clemson not even trying to run the football when they get the ball.

This reminds me so much of last year's title game. Clemson with a decent start, and then getting absolutely rolled.

Barring OSU pissing this game down their leg with turnovers, the Buckeyes will be heading to the title game. Disappointing end to the Trevor Lawrence run.

Ouch...ouch, ouch, ouch. Fields might have some sore ribs. Skalski going to get tagged for targeting, booted from the game, and OSU will get an automatic first down.

Yep. Our best defensive player DQ'd. Correct call, but what a gut punch. Clemson finally makes a stop, and then gives it back with the penalty.

OSU 28-14. That's game.

Clemson's secondary is completely discombobulated. They are getting shredded.

Yeah. There will be a lot of talk about how Nolan Turner being out for the first half was a huge deal. I don't think it would really have made much difference. Ohio State has been very effective at getting their TEs open in the red zone, and Clemson has not been able to put much pressure on Fields. Kudos to the Buckeyes. They obviously had a game plan they wanted to implement, and they have done so very effectively.

Dabo needs to seriously consider making some changes on the defensive side. Venables has put together some very impressive game plans and great defenses over the years, and was a major reason the Tigers won titles in 2016 and 2018 (not to mention making the playoff 6 straight years). He has more than earned himself a bad game. But, tonight is embarrassing.

And as I type that, Clemson picks it off in the end zone. Might be able to hold OSU to only 63 now. : - )

Dabo messed up voting them 11th. Whatever point he wanted to make, all it was going to do was become bulletin board material for OSU.

Dabo voting them 11th has absolutely nothing to do with Clemson playing like garbage. Dabo also stated that he didn't believe OSU was actually the 11th best team, but rather that a team that only played 6 games shouldn't be voted as a Top 10 team.

ETA: I do agree with you that it probably was a misstep. It didn't help his team at all, and it may have motivated OSU in practice a bit more (may also motivate OSU to run up the score).

Either way, he thinks OSU does not deserve to be there- which wasn't their fault at all. The B1G laid down the COVID protocol, one that was likely more stringent than the ACC's. OSU didn't take that well.

Maybe his team even believe him, based on how they are playing.
