College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

Re: College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

Uh, gee, he had hold of the left arm. That was a total penalty (and a good one, since it would have been a TD without that penalty). Now, UT scored anyway, but that is besides the point.

He wasn't holding him. He was contacting him with one hand which is allowable.

Also, the ref who threw the flag couldn't see that he was holding him because of the angle. What he could see is the guy didn't turn around.

Under college football rules, there is no such thing as defensive pass interference for face-guarding.

But its not like we should expect them to know the rules.

Oh and a nice late shot to the OU QB after he slid.

Face-guarding is fine, but the fact is, that was PI. I don't even care who wins this game (I really don't care about college football, but hey, at least it's football on a Sat aft).

Re: College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

That OU guy just made his defender look foolish. Wow.

Sioux Falls 14
UND 3
2nd Quarter

Sioux Falls is an NAIA team. Absolutely embarrassing.

Re: College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

Texas #4 puts his arm into OK #5 to gain space, which creates contact, and then after that it appears OK #5 grabs at his arm, which would be no penalty, I believe, since the Texas receiver pushed off first. But I realize I'm howling at the moon here, sicne it happened 10 minutes ago.

Tied at 13. Maybe the OU defense will have enjoyed the rest and play good defense like they did throughout the first half.

Re: College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

So why was Whitaker allowed to dive at the LB's knees?

It's not like they don't know what a chop block is. Isn't that illegal block below the waist?

For an offensive lineman, if one lineman is engaged with a d-lineman/etc, another offensive guy cannot block below the waist of the engaged player.

I didn't see the play/replay, so I can't comment on this particular instance. But that's the rule.

That's an amazing catch, which is under review. Confirmed. Amazing catch.

So if the LB isn't being blocked by anyone else, you can dive at their knees? This was about 5 yards past the line of scrimmage.

As far as I know, they usually let that go (say, an RB is on a long run, and it's downfield, how many times have you seen a blocker just kinda dive low to cut off an angle of a defender?).

It just doesn't happen that often.

Purdue shocks Ohio State.

Ohio State hadn't lost in Big 10(11) play on the road since 2005.

And that throw was worse.

Does ANYONE want this game?
