College Basketball '25-'26

13th ranked BYU at 14 Kansas today @ 4:30 on ESPN. In the 20 games KU has played Darryn Peterson has missed 10 due to injuries; from what I have seen he's very good. I haven't seen BYU's AJ Dybantsa yet but def looking forward to this game.

I haven't been following NCAA Basketball too closely this year...

What's the story with Miami (the "We have Miami at home" version)? Are we really at a point where they will be left out if they don't win their conference tournament, despite only having 1-2 losses on the year? I get that they are the MAC, but was their non-conference schedule that bad? Kinda seems like winning 25+ straight should account for something with the selection committee...

Apparently they have one of the worst SOS in the country. So, their nonconference schedule must be pretty bad.

They’re 27-0, but 24-0 in the eyes of the committee as they have three non-D1 wins as countable games. Hilariously, one of the non D1 schools they played has a picture of a Miami swimmer as their logo on the schedule who must share the same name. Their top non-con game was against Wright State, who is currently 156 in KenPom.

It takes a lot to go undefeated, even in conference in the MAC, but if there was a resume to get left off with one loss, this is it.

Shout out to my alma mater, Merrimack College, for clinching the outright MAAC regular season title with a double OT win over Iona. They had beaten Siena in OT in their previous game (on ESPNU) to get a share of the title. Freshman guard Kevair Kennedy (last year's Max Preps Pennsylvania Player of the Year) is the likely MVP of the conference (hope he stays in North Andover). Old school guard who drives hard to the hoop, and is fearless. Team was 26 for 26 from the free throw line in the win over Siena.
They play chaotic defense and Coach Joe Gallo is terrific.
