College Basketball 2015-2016 - hitchhiking to Houston

Re: College Basketball 2015-2016 - hitchhiking to Houston

That UNI collapse was an all-timer. Their win probability with 34 seconds left, up 12, was 100%. That last turnover was the worst. All that kid needed to do was throw the ball down the court and worst case, A&M would have had a throw-in from half court with 1 second left. I blame the coaches.

I thought the And 1 they gave to TAMU when the UNI guy is literally moving backwards was atrocious, as was the fact that the poor UNI guy is basically being pushed out of bounds by the two guys trapping him on that last play. I get it's human nature to help the underdog in that situation, but yeesh.

My bracket is actually doing pretty well this year. I'm in the 95th percentile on ESPN, though that's not good enough to get me into the top half-a-million brackets. If Iowa had beaten Villanova, I probably would have been in the top 100k heading into next weekend.

Ben Jacobsen is a fantastic coach. Neither team had any time outs so it really was in the players hands, the normal set up man was injured on the bench, and unfortunately a number of mistakes and proper capitalization of those mistakes doomed the Panthers.

"I did see a clip of the last 20 seconds of that game, and I would quit basketball," James said Wednesday, shaking his head at the incredible finish. "If I was on Northern Iowa, I would quit. You're up eight with 20-plus seconds, you up five with 10 seconds -- I would quit. Yeah I would quit."

Didn't think it was possible to hate Lebron more....but there it is.

Insufferable comes to mind.

First 4 of the Sweet 16 tonight

Miami/Villanova - Nova always has one of those "head scratcher" losses and Miami is playing well.

Texas A&M/Oklahoma - I belive the Sooners won both their 2 games by 30+.

Maryland/Kansas - Toughest test for the Jayhawks so far.

Duke/Oregon - Hard to bet against Duke in the tourney.

Re: College Basketball 2015-2016 - hitchhiking to Houston

'nova looked really sharp tonight.

I think their upset victory over Georgetown in 1985 was probably one of the top ten in all historic upsets. I remember watching that game in awe, 'nova played out of their minds. Milked the shot clock to the last second the entire second half, while shooting something like 87% from the field. Georgetown just could not stop them. # 7 seed over # 1 if I'm not mistaken, and this was Patrick Ewing Georgetown.

Big East had three of Final Four teams that year, as St. Johns (with Chris Mullen and Walter Berry) lost to Georgetown in semis.

Villanova was an 8 seed that year, and yes, that was Ewing's senior year. Nova shot 9-10 in the 2nd half, and 79% for the game.

No shot clock. No 3 point line. Villanova took 28 shots in the whole game. They only missed 6 shots all night.

'Cats/'Hawks Sat night. Should be a beaut.

BC wins tonight in the regionals I'll be in Worcester for the finals that start at 9 Sat so the Elite Eight game will be tough to miss seeing. :(

All the mid majors are gone.

I just can't get behind a 10 seed Syracuse as a Cinderella. We now have Kansas, Nova, UNC, Notre Dame, UVA, Cuse, Oregon, and Oklahoma remaining in the tournament. I guess I'll pick Oklahoma or UVA to root for.

Quite the day yesterday in the women's tournament: first time ever that two # 1 seeds went down before reaching the Elite Eight (and a # 2 seed went down before reaching the Sweet Sixteen as well).

Most years, people complain about suffocating on chalk. Not this year (with perhaps one exception, we'll see in two weeks).

You could pick the Pope Francis special: Villanova vs Notre Dame in the Final.

I'm with you.. Oregon is fun to watch when they're hitting their shots too so I hope it's Orgeon, Oklahoma, or UVA that wins it all. My bracket would appreciate a UNC win.

Yup, lower-seeded Stanford ended Notre Dame's season. (Just like football last November!) Now they get to face #7 Washington so it's a Pac-12 final for the regional.

Oregon thought they won it all when they beat a lousy duke team

Re: College Basketball 2015-2016 - hitchhiking to Houston

It's coming down to me with Oklahoma and another person with UVA in my office bracket. I had Kansas going to the Final 4, but then so did everyone else, and them losing knocks out the guy picking them to win it all. If UVA and UNC both lose tomorrow, I think I can win solely by Oklahoma getting into the finals.

Re: College Basketball 2015-2016 - hitchhiking to Houston

Well, now I need Cuse to win tomorrow to have a shot in one of my pools. Might be able to get by if UNC also makes it and then makes the finals. I think I just won my other since most had the same Final Four and I was the only differentiation with Oklahoma going to the title game.

Good game, but sucks when games are decided by mistakes rather than good play. Tomorrow we have the ACC semifinals.

Re: College Basketball 2015-2016 - hitchhiking to Houston

Missed the Kansas game other that the last 35 or so seconds due to being at the UMD/BC hockey game. Read nothing in the paper, didn't see any highlights so all I know is they lost. Congrats to Villanova. Can't wait to see how they do against OU and Buddy Hield.

Re: College Basketball 2015-2016 - hitchhiking to Houston

Syracuse has just taken this game right away from Virginia.
