IU chokes. Michigan onto the semis. Given how Painter coaches, it could be an 8 vs 12 semifinal if Illinois pulls it off today.

Yes, less so indeed, but at least far better than most.

What is the regular season except one extended tournament? you play each team twice, once at home, once away. Why have a second tournament afterward? [besides the money, I mean]

Anyway, if one really "must" have a post-season tournament, then the first-place team should get a bye into the finals (or semi-finals). The new Ivy setup will do that. I think the old Big East did it too, first and second place got a double-bye and third and fourth place got a bye, only 5th and below had to play all the games (which was part of what made the Kemba Walker Show in 2011 so incredible -- UConn finished 9th in Big East and probably wouldn't even have gotten into the NCAA tournament that year had they lost early in the conference tournament...then five wins in five days, followed by six wins over three weekends, and voila!)

The official Ivy "champion" will still be the RS winner. The playoff winner gets the auto bid.

I get that. I was more commenting on the fact that we tend to call the conference champion the winner of the tournament. That and we also crown a national champion in a single-elimination tournament.

Talk about a bias towards the power schools.

I would've had Monmouth, St Mary's and the Bonnies in over Cuse, Tulsa and one of Michigan/Vandy/Wichita
