Colgate 24-25

Evidently the quality of the suit for the tunnelers wasn't as cheap as I thought...Although they tried in the 3rd period to choke away a 3 goal lead. Good 3rd period for Colgate but the first two periods did them in.

Great season Gate women especially given all the unexpected obstacles the team had to face with the depleted D. Thank you seniors for your leadership and dedication and hope to see at least some of you join the already large alumna pool in the PWHL... Returning players, the future looks bright with a very solid class expected. Enjoy the off-season and Go Gate!

David put up quite a fight. Colgate will topple Goliath next year. Our best to you, seniors. Thanks to all for choosing amazing Colgate.

The 'Gate team was real fun to watch this year. Even when down by a goal or more, I never felt like they didn't have a chance to come back – and many times they did. So proud of the women skaters.

Despite the departures of Murphy and Kalty, the future looks bright at Colgate! With Biederman, Borgiel, Pais, Stewart, Palumbo, Malachino and Aubin having another year on the clock and the class of new recruits announced, the Raiders should remain an ECAC powerhouse. It remains to be seen whether Walker will be able to take over from Hannah in front of the net. The Decosse effect should also continue. Over the past season, the new head coach has maneuvered masterfully with such a young team. In fact, the rather modest results at the start of the season foreshadowed a difficult season, and perhaps even the beginnings of a rebuild. After the holidays, despite a decimated defense, the team continued to progress before reaching its full potential at the start of the playoffs. I applaud Coach Decosse's bold decision to graft rookie Alexia Aubin with Pais and Kalty during the playoffs. The Aubin-Pais duo could give the opposition a run for their money over the next two years. I'm really excited about next season!

I doubt Ella Belfry going to BU is what you were referring to, but as one if our few very capable D's a big loss none the less. She really improved over the year and I am sad to see her leave. Boston certainly has a lot more moving parts than Hamilton. Spitz looking to leave is no surprise and given the state of women's hockey if an "impact" player wants a "Natty" trying to hook up with one of the powerhouses out West would be no surprise.

My source regarding Malachino's departure was reliable. Very disappointing and questionable to see her leave. She seemed happy at Colgate? She'd just had a great season. She was destined to be a permanent Top-6 player and an important part of the team next season. I sincerely wonder what made her want to change teams. Although I'm sad to see her leave, I wish her every success for the future.

She presumably would want to pick her coach. Fargo didn't leave Colgate until June of 2024, and I'd imagine that was too short notice for some players to switch for 2024-25. I think this is seen a fair amount after coaching changes.
