Shabby, that makes more sense, as I knew that he played for the Marlboroughs (but not the Maple Leafs). I will ask him the next time that I see him. Thanks!

Saw earlier this week that Carter Gylander went down from Grand Rapids AHL to Toledo ECHL, and then saw this today…

“Big shoutout to Bobby McMann, who’s quietly on a very hot streak over his last 6 games.

McMann is up to 12 goals on the season and is in one of those stretches he’s had over the years where he looks like one of the best power forwards in the NHL. He’s on pace for a very solid 26 goals and 43 points for the remainder of the season.”

EDIT: It is 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve and I am watching Carter Gylander in goal for the Toledo Walleyes (at Kalamazoo Wings) on FloHockey PPV.
Toledo wins 5-3. Toledo led SOG, 34-30. Carter Gylander's record improves to 5-3-1-0.

Sounds like a great college hockey game tonight at New Hampshire. I stayed home this weekend to watch my beloved Omaha team lose both games to Cornell, 6-4 and 3-2, but Zach Lamont messaged me that Max Nagel is back on the ice for ‘Gate. Hooray!! I will definitely be watching and cheering from home ‘morrow night. Go ‘Gate!
 
Nice win last night, we outplayed UNH in the third period hitting two pipes also. Penalty kill was outstanding as we took five minors ! That has to change going forward. Some games we look pretty formidable, need to find some consistency. I thought Dyck played one of his best games, Norlin is looking very impressive. Looking forward to watching tonight's game, I haven't said that too often this year !
 
Watching college hockey on PPV is definitely different than watching it live:

Barb and Shabby, they didn't listen to you two (and me and GreenCoat earlier this season) about taking penalties. First two to 'Gate tonight.
I like Daniel Panetta's penalty-kill, though. Possession is important in 3-on-3 OT, but also on the penalty-kill. You don't have to just shoot it down the ice and give the puck back to the PP'ers. He didn't.

This appears to be a COVID-era crowd tonight. I understand that students are probably still on holiday break, and it is a Sunday night, but still...

When ECAC announces its post-season awards, they sometimes go unnoticed by me. But when a Hockey East/New Hampshire announcer states that Michael Neumeier was last year's 12-team ECAC Hockey 'Rookie of the Year,' I think, 'wow, that's really kewl.'

New Hampshire 12, Colgate 7, SOG after one.
New Hampshire 1, Colgate 0, score after one.

Colgate 17, New Hampshire 17, Faceoffs-Won after two.

Another good, close-checking college hockey game.

New Hampshire 3, Colgate 2, score final.

Good game. Good split on the road against a non-conference team ranked higher than 'Gate.

A road split against a Hockey East team, I'll take it.
But the schedule doesn't do us any favors. 4 weeks off, play a weekend series, then the next game isn't for 2 weeks.
 
And that game is against Q-Pac, and the following night against a streaking Princeton team.
 
With 'Gate off this weekend, it might be a good time to look at the rest of the ECAC, especially those seriously looking for at-large bids to the NCAA tournament...

#6 Dartmouth, hosting #17 Harvard,
#10 Quinnipiac, hosting #27 Union and #56 RPI,
#11 Cornell, hosting #46 Alaska for two non-conference games,
#12 Princeton, hosting #56 RPI and #27 Union, and
#17 Harvard, visiting #6 Dartmouth, and hosting #23 Boston Univ. in a non-conference game.

And for those positioning themselves for the ECAC Hockey tournament, with all 12 teams having played 8 games to-date, the ECAC points are...

Princeton 19, Cornell 18, Dartmouth 18, Quinnipiac 17,
Harvard 15, Colgate 12, Union 11, Yale 9, Clarkson 9,
Brown 7, RPI, 6, and Saint Lawrence 3.

I love looking at the combined travel partners’ points to see which pair is the toughest in the league. Right now, it is Princeton/Quinnipiac… and they are coming to an arena near you soon.
 
There was not one upset on Friday in 5 ECAC games.
And on Saturday, in 4 conference match-ups, Union over Princeton was the only upset.
Why is the 12-team ECAC Hockey conference so predictable?

This past week in the pick 'em contest, most entrants got at least 7 of 9 games correct. I miss the "unpredictability" of this conference.
