Colgate 2024-25 Harder Hockey

Brown at Quinnipiac.
Harvard at Clarkson.
Cornell at Colgate.
Dartmouth at Union.

Our series is the only ‘rivalry series.’ It will be intense. I was at tonight’s Yale at Cornell game and Cornell was its usual physical, aggressive, chippy against-the-boards self. One only has to look at their five-minute major penalty and game misconduct with 5:19 left in the game.

I hope that we are healed and ready. Next weekend will not be pretty.

And so, we will host Cornell in a best of 3 quarterfinal series next weekend.

I really hope the Colgate administration and/or athletics department(s) organize something to promote attendance. Students go on spring break after their last class on Friday, and with Cornell not too far away, I don't want Riggs Rink turning into a "Lynah East".

I’m with Shabby in that I think we’ll be OK physically. I’m mostly concerned about killing penalties. But it should be a fun weekend coming up!

Officially "Cornell" week ! I don't think there will be many promotions, sad but the current administration doesn't care. Students on break but they don't show up anyway. Supposed to be beautiful weather for the weekend also, no excuses there for that.
Which Colgate team shows up, hoping the additions of Panetta and Labelle had something to do with the nice win over Union. We need to stay out of the "sin bin" as Cornell loves to put two big bodies in front of the net and get "dirty" goals. The funny thing was that we did that to them in Hamilton.
Speed kills ! Looking forward to the games.

From 2004-05 through 2019-20, our record against Cornell (including playoffs) was 5-25-7. Then the Covid pandemic hit, and Cornell was forced to sit out the 2020-21 season.

Since the start of the 2021-22 season, our record against the Big Red is 5-4-2. We are an even 2-2 against Cornell since Mike Harder became head coach, splitting the home and home each season.

Mike Harder interview posted yesterday by ECAC Hockey…

So hard to hypothesize which Gate team shows up this weekend ! Looking forward to tonight, I need for one of my teams to do well(Browns and Bruins awful). At least our 240 inches of snow is melting. LOL...what a winter !

Shabby, I am present and accounted for.
I will be going to all three games this weekend and doing my usual game-day posts.
I am just less optimistic than you and Magoo (and the dog named Boo) about our chances against an aggressive and physical against-the-boards Cornell team. That style of play is generally not our strong suit. Hopefully Mike Harder has them prepared for it. That is all (for now).
P.S. - On the women’s side, I like the classic East vs. West matchups this weekend.
P.P.S. - I hate to see Dave Smith lose his coaching job at RPI, but it appears to be the right decision.

Having trouble with Edit feature on here…
