Fourth non-conference opponent released (on schedule thread here)…

Colgate at (Orono) Maine,
Friday-Saturday, January 5-6, 2024.

Maine did NOT qualify for the NCAA tournament last season.

Just curious...where do you get this info from ? Happy Fourth also. Interesting day in the NHL today...especially my B's !

Fifth non-conference opponent released (on schedule thread here)…

Colgate at Long Island University (LIU),
Friday-Saturday, January 12-13, 2024.

LIU did NOT qualify for the NCAA tournament last season.

Shabby, if you are asking me, I get the schedule info from the schedule thread on this site. It seems that other schools post their non-conference schedules sooner than Colgate does.
As for Cameron Eke, I don’t normally follow recruits. But i was looking at the NHL draft picks and, after scrolling past six with ‘Cornell’ after their names, I found one with ‘Colgate.’ Yay!!

Perhaps I just missed the news, but have seen zero announcements confirming the hiring of two assistant coaches for this year...after all, we're half-way through July...Carmelo Crandall, an early recruit (a 2005 birth year kid who scored a point/game in the AJHL last year) has apparently de-committed and is following, who else, Dana Borgues and Alex Young to ASU down the line...I wish Mike Harder all the best - a great player for us and comes off as bright and well-spoken - but did we even consider Dana in the coaching mix following DV's retirement? I have it on very good authority that today's young men really love playing for coaches who are young (this may be generational, who knows?)...perhaps adding two quality 30-year old assistant coaches will help in this regard...I hope so...

GreenCoat - you haven't missed any announcements. If what was posted a month ago regarding Zach Badalamenti (age 30) and Anthony Walsh (age 28) becoming our Assistants is true, then we will have young coaches.

Yesterday I toured the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth, Minn., in the Iron Range. Although it is primarily a Hall of Fame, it is also a museum for the sport in America. I saw the photo of Quinnipiac’s national championship-winning team in the College Hockey section and a display case honoring Harvard and the Beanpot tournament. And reference to Clarkson award-winning players. But anything related to Colgate and ECAC Hockey is really lacking. As a former sports museum administrator, I realize that you can’t display what you don’t have. I would like to see Colgate and the ECAC consider loaning or donating historically-significant memorabilia to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame for long-term display.

Thought folks here might find this of interest....

Times-Union ran an article over the weekend detailing new NY Legislation signed into law that clears the way for robust NIL activity in New York...preventing NCAA from meddling in NIL deals... Mentions Siena (M & W basketball and UAlbany lacrosse as NIL active...)

"...On June 30, Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a bill that prevents the NCAA, or any other organization with authority over college athletics, from entertaining a complaint, opening an investigation or taking any other adverse action against a college for involvement in an athlete’s name, image or likeness. While it doesn’t allow pay for play, it strengthens the NIL law that New York passed last year.

Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy, who co-sponsored the bill, explained Syracuse University, a high-major Division I school, lobbied hard for the legislation and Syracuse-area legislators backed it..."

Sixth non-conference opponent released (by Colgate)…

UConn at Colgate,
Saturday-Sunday, October 7-8, 2023.

UConn did NOT qualify for the NCAA tournament last season.

Thus, none of our non-conference opponents for this coming season played in the tournament last season. Our preliminary strength of schedule will be due to our playing fellow ECAC NCAA tournament teams Cornell, Harvard and national champion Quinnipiac.

He's been successful wherever he's coached, looks like a good hire ! He has a masters degree from Trinity College, OOC I wonder how many other college coaches have a Masters degree ?

Shabby, overall, I am happy with the 2023-24 schedule.
It seems pretty balanced:

homex2NC, travelx2NC, homex2NC,
travelx2, homex2, travelx2, homex2NC,
homex1, travelx1,
travelx2NC, travelx2NC, homex2, travelx2,
homex2, travelx2, homex2, travelx2,
homex2.

There is that holiday gap, but we have two Non-Conference (NC) road trips immediately after it to get our legs back under us.
As I have said before, I am more concerned that our NC opponents are not NCAA tournament teams from last season.
But, again, overall, I am happy with it.
I know now that I won't make the Brown/Yale away games, nor the LIU away series, but all others are currently in play for me.
I will venture up to Colgate later this week to purchase my parking pass and season ticket with Sullivan Suite access.
Go 'Gate!
