Another one of my lists, looking at strength-of-schedule, and using University of Nebraska - Omaha (UNO) for comparison.
It should be noted that UNO has released their 2023-24 final schedule, while Colgate has not done so yet.
However, it should also be noted that Colgate's strength-of-schedule has already improved, just by virtue of the three other ECAC teams making the '23 NCAA tournament, including national champion Quinnipiac.

2023-24 Colgate Opponents that have Competed in the 16-team NCAA Tournament (tentative):
2023 – Cornell, Harvard, QUINNIPIAC
2022 - Harvard, Quinnipiac
2021 - Quinnipiac
2020 - (none held)
2019 - Clarkson, Cornell, Harvard, Quinnipiac
2018 - Clarkson, Cornell, Princeton
Notes:
Those teams that competed in the NCAA Frozen Four appear in CAPITAL letters.
Those teams that won the NCAA National Championship appear in underscored CAPITAL letters.

2023-24 Nebraska - Omaha Opponents that have Competed in the 16-team NCAA Tournament (final):
2023 – Denver, Harvard*, Minnesota State, Ohio State, Saint Cloud State, Western Michigan
2022 - DENVER, Harvard*, Massachusetts – Lowell*, Minnesota - Duluth, Minnesota State, North Dakota, Saint Cloud State, Western Michigan
2021 - MINNESOTA - DULUTH, Minnesota State, North Dakota, SAINT CLOUD STATE
2020 - (none held)
2019 – Arizona State*, DENVER, Harvard*, MINNESOTA - DULUTH, Minnesota State, Ohio State, Saint Cloud State
2018 - Denver, MINNESOTA - DULUTH, Minnesota State, Ohio State, Saint Cloud State
Notes:

Asterisk (*) indicates that Nebraska – Omaha is invited to the four-team ASU Desert Classic with Arizona State, Harvard and Massachusetts – Lowell.

I wish Dana all the best at ASU. He did a great job here at Colgate and I am sad to see him go. And he’s taking Alex Young !

Sol, it may be ‘too soon’ as the wound is still open.
he he he
Dana Borges is definitely a ‘good guy.’ I was sitting in the stands at Union College (just after the doors had opened) this season and he came over, sat next to me, introduced himself and immediately thanked me for my support of Colgate hockey. As a fan, you can’t ask for much more than that. He’s a smart young coach that can relate to kids today. Again, as a fan, you can’t ask for much more than that.
I, too, wish him all the best, as I do all former ‘Gate players and staff.

Good to hear! Thanks.

Our own Steve Spott ‘90 is an Asst. Coach with the Dallas Stars playing in the NHL playoffs! Go Stars!!!

Winning the ECACs was a great achievement - kudos to DV, his assistants (especially Borges) and, of course, the players...since then? well not so positive (no need to recount; we all know the various news releases)...bottom line: I think we all could use some GOOD NEWS relatively soon (BTW, I sincerely appreciate the contributions of the Young Brothers over the past 3-4 years, but am disappointed that Colton bolted with one year left of eligibility and Alex followed Dana to ASU...in today's world I get it, but believe neither brother will really benefit from their decisions...in any event, I wish them success in the future)...

Hard to beat a Colgate degree.

I agree with both Coat and JHeilbron. I was so hoping Colton would stay and play another year with Alex - and then they both leave - UGH!! I wonder how much Don’s retirement played into their decisions. I am very disappointed.
I’ve heard some names being bantered about for Head Coach - Fogarty, Dexter, Winchester, someone from Qpac and someone from one of the Alaska schools. Don’t know if any of these are true. There is an Advisory Committee to the Search Committee and it is comprised of mostly Alums.

Not to pile on too much re: recent events, BUT...you would think our Silver Puck Council would at least issue some kind of communication to its members regarding the retirement of DV and some (basic) statement on the program's goals going forward...I'm approaching my 45th year of contributions to an organization that desperately needs upgrading...it is not unreasonable to assume that the in-charge individuals are essentially going through the motions...I know for a fact that both the Cornell and SLU programs make a decent effort to talk to people who are "walking the walk"...when suckers like yours truly pass on where will find new members who love college hockey and believe that Colgate can be a solid/successful program going forward...I'm not holding my breath...

I agree. It’s important to reengage and bring back into the fold more recent alumni. The Slater Golf Tournament is good but sadly not enough.

Does anyone know if Colgate is interviewing or has interviewed any candidates for head coach?

And where did Colton Young end up?

Magoo - I heard Jesse Winchester and a Coach from AIC have interviewed. Colton went to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

I’m with you, Shabby. Speaking of Winchester, wasn’t he the one who convinced the Spink twins to come to Colgate?

Additionally, he can pitch the idea that you can go from an undrafted kid to a career in the NHL like he did.

The Spinks, Baun, Borowkowski and it seemed like half the Cornwall Colts. But is he interested ? Hope they make a decision soon.
