One of the best (if not the best) overall performances by men's hockey in 8 or 9 years...yes, Pecknold will have Q-pac more than ready after being bullwhipped in Ithaca...solid effort by everyone up and down the lineup...keep it going Gate...

It might seem unlikely that Qpac would get swept on a weekend but I’m not conceding tonight’s game.

Glad for the win to keep us above .500. We were up 2-0 @ Qpac before the tables turned. Never know which Gylander will be in net; last night or the one at RPI. Special teams will need to shine, especially if we’re undisciplined and in the box.

Watched Cornell tear apart Quinnipiac. What. A. Game. Their fans, packed like sardines, the intensity, the thrilling atmosphere for every game…
One can dream.

Good luck to the ladies as they go for the season sweep.

One of the best (if not the best) overall performances by men's hockey in 8 or 9 years...

The problem for Colgate has ALWAYS been consistency. A repeat performance is asking a lot, but here’s hoping.

Good to hear about the turnout, Iowa. The broadcast is very misleading.

Incredibly balanced scoring, and snipes. Glasman had a great goal, Verboon great goal and assist, Dipaulo nice goal. Young bros only one assist, good catch Iowa.
Verboon is quietly becoming an impact player, what we hoped for when he was playing on the Swiss national team, eight game scoring streak now.
Gylander GAA is now under 2.00. Last night was the good Gate team capable of beating most, we need consistency going forward, top four should be reasonable going forward.

Watched Q-Pac last night and thought Cornell dominated them, I was very surprised, along with the other ECAC upsets.

Admittedly, I take Quinnipiac for granted a lot. We played them six times two seasons ago. Just another team in ECAC Hockey.

But the reality is… they are the #2 team in the nation and they are coming to our barn tonight.

Who is behind them in the PairWise Ranking (PWR) of 62 programs? Saint Cloud, Penn State, Denver, BU, Michigan, Ohio State, Harvard and Western Michigan. Who is ahead of them? Just Minnesota.

This is a HUGE opportunity in front of us tonight. I hope we are ready to take advantage of it.

:oTo no one’s surprise, Carter Gylander (Colgate) and Yaniv Perets (Quinnipiac) led their respective teams to the ice tonight for the pre-game warm-up.:D
Colgate penalty. Killed it.
Quinnipiac penalty. Killed it.
Colgate penalty. And Quinnipiac scored.
Quinnipiac penalty.
Colgate penalty (20 seconds into PP).
Penalties killed.

Colgate 10, Quinnipiac 9, SOG after one.
Quinnipiac 1, Colgate 0, score after one.

Quinnipiac scored early in second.

Quinnipiac… two penalized. 5 on 3 for two.
Colgate’s Ethan Manderville scored POG. Second penalty killed.
Colgate penalty. Killed it.

We have had opportunities. Pinged it off pipe in first period. Glasman one on one with Perets in second and he shot it high.

Colgate 19, Quinnipiac 18, SOG after two.
Quinnipiac 2, Colgate 1, score after two.

Colgate’s Ryan McGuire (from Nick Anderson) scored a beauty after not giving up in front of their net.
Dang!! Another beauty by Ben Raymond (from Bobby Metz).

Defensive shell since we took lead.

QU 28, Colgate 25, SOG final.
Colgate 3, Quinnipiac 3, score final.

Fabulous game and win!!! Balanced scoring again tonight. Gylander stood on his head at times! Great team effort!!! Great confidence builder going forward. Go 'gate!!! Woohoo!!!

Home again, home again...

It is so interesting, as every game has such a different feel (at least to me).
In the win over Harvard a couple of weeks ago, it seemed like we played up to their level. It was a great advertisement for high-quality college hockey.
Tonight, though, it didn't seem like we played up to their level (PWR#2 in the nation going into the contest), as much as they played down to ours (with the exception of Carter Gylander, who stood on his head, especially late in the game). For much of the first half of the game, we played whack-a-mole with the puck while their stick-handling was dazzling at times. Quinnipiac has just so much talent... and experience. I think their starting line-up tonight included two graduate transfers. To our credit, we just don't give up... not in front of the opponent's net, not down by one or two goals. That blue-collar style of play paid off big-time tonight, though it still wrenches my gut watching my fave team trying desperately to protect a one-goal lead with over half the third period to play.
But, mission accomplished tonight... and this weekend. Hopefully we'll keep our foot on the gas pedal next weekend at Harvard and Dartmouth. Go 'Gate!

9-3-0 in ECAC Hockey.
4th in ECAC Hockey standings, with a 5-point lead over Princeton in 5th (plus we have three games-in-hand on them).
12-10-2 on the season.
PWR#29 tonight (of 62 NCAA MIH programs).

Every one is contributing...and no quit...great to see...and congrats to Ryan McGuire who does a lot of the dirty work and, no surprise, has a high hockey IQ...keep is going Gate...

More balanced scoring, Manderville, McGuire and Raymond, not exactly our leading scorers. On the winning goal Delpedio flipped a backhand pass high threw the air to Raymond who somehow corralled it waist high with a Q-Pac defender draped all over him, fought him off from the blueline in and deked one of the best goaltenders in the nation, just a great goal. Kinda like a hail mary pass. (watched it about ten times this am).
With their goalie pulled the last three minutes I don't know how they didn't score pressuring us the whole time in our own end. Can't say enough about Gylander this weekend, and a shutout the night before !
Going to savor this for a few days, then onto Harvard, who LOST to Brown. ECAC is as crazy as ever this year !

More positives, we're 6-1-1 since November and the Niagara fiasco. (bad loss to RPI). Five home and five away left, even going .500 would put us at 14-8 probably good enough for home ice. Clarkson or SLU would have to go 7-3 at least to catch us, and we have them both home. Sweep this weekend was large !

Coach Vaughan said we hit four posts in the first period in the post game interview. I missed most of the period, didn't know that.
