[TD="align: left"]Dear Alumni, Family, and Friends of Colgate Men’s Hockey,
Greetings from the Colgate campus. We have played one nonconference game to date versus Clarkson, and it was just amazing to be able to compete. We do have three more nonconference games scheduled prior to the start of ECAC Hockey league play, which
begins on Jan. 1, 2021. Click
here to view our full schedule.
So much has gone into getting us to the point where we can play a game. President Casey and his Cabinet, the Task Force to Reopen Colgate, Vice President Nicki Moore and her administrative staff, and every student adhering to the Commitment to Community Health have allowed us to stay as safe as possible, healthy, and able to practice and play.
Our guys have been great and preparing hard. With the stress of everything going on in their lives, we thought it best to give them the opportunity to leave campus for a couple of weeks. They left following our game on Nov. 22 and returned on Dec. 10. They must quarantine for the first few days but can train in small groups (their direct family units) before resuming practice as a full team. We have games scheduled
on Dec. 23 versus Clarkson,
Dec. 27versus St. Lawrence, and
Dec. 29 versus RIT. Assuming all testing goes well and other logistics fall into place, these games will be played and considered nonconference.
With the Ivy League, RPI, and Union cancelling their seasons, ECAC Hockey is left with four teams remaining: Colgate, Clarkson, Quinnipiac, and St. Lawrence. We plan to play each other six times for an 18-game ECAC League schedule. As you will see, there are open weekends that will allow for makeup games should we hit any bumps along the way. It might seem daunting, and of course it will be fluid; that said, I am so appreciative of all of the people who have been involved to get us to a place where we at least have a chance to compete.
On behalf of the entire Colgate Men’s Hockey family, I want to wish you and your loved ones a very safe and happy holiday season. Be well.
Sincerely,
Don Vaughan
