Colgate 2020-21

I stand corrected. There is a Colgate thread on the women's fan forum. However, celebrating them on either thread should be justified. Go 'gate!

I enjoy joshin’ with you guys on here. If it weren’t for fundraising letters, there wouldn’t be any communication whatsoever from the program. If it weren’t for Colgate’s women’s hockey, men’s football and co-ed badminton teams, there wouldn’t need to be thread on here.

FWIW Dep't: I got on the ESPN+ feed today, got registered correctly and password went through...finally. Watching today's game......1-1- after two periods up in Potsdam. Video isn't too good here, but I can see the players.....vaseline like picture. Thanks to IBT for helping me out.

Eleven ticks on the clock....that's all that was left to secure the win. Disappointing to settle for the 2-2 tie. But oh for 8 on the PP killed 'em. Gotta be better on special teams.

Great to see the women's team skate again. They have some great talent but still seem to fall short. A lack of offense and special teams will not get it done. Playing from behind is never a good recipe, either. Taking 5 out of 8 points is not bad, but today felt like a meltdown with a SHG and EAG in the waning seconds. Obviously still a lot of work to do.

Not sure what you mean by playing from behind. Colgate led then it was tied then Colgate went ahead. Clarkson tied with 6 seconds left on a 6 on 4 after pulling goalies.

It’s not women’s ice hockey, but Colgate grad transfer Jared Cockrell just scored Saint Cloud State’s fifth and final goal against my beloved Omaha team in the NCHC pod. SCSU 5, UNO 3, final score.

For the message board administrator... if this post is not appropriate, please feel free to delete it. Thanks.

Help me out here. Why did Jared Cockrell leave Colgate? Was SCS a better fit for him? Did he not like 'Gate? Did he not get along with DV? Did he not feel he got enuf ice time? Did he not get along with his teammates? What's the skinny? Intelligent people want to know.

He left because he graduated. He only played 7 games his Junior year due to injury so he had eligibility left. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a player stick with his original team for a graduate year even through there are many schools you could go that with (including Colgate).

re: Cockrell...St. Cloud, despite its underperformance in the NCAA Tourney is a winning program...to be quite honest, we (at least over the several years) are not...western hockey is a little more wide open as well and I would expect St. Cloud to average significantly more than 2 goals/game this year and going forward...I fervently hope we do as well, but, and just being objective, the jury is still out...

So we've got a schedule! Anyone with enough knowledge to provide a decent pre-season overview? Based on last year's results and rosters its a bifurcated league this year. Clarkson looks to have lost their top 2 scorers and there #1 goalie but were otherwise strong with a #2 finish last year. Quinnipiac might be the favorite on paper finishing #3 last year and returning almost everyone. Colgate & St. Lawrence will be a tale of the new and the step ups. Fingers crossed, we should have good goaltending but the Sophs and Freshman will need to provide some scoring.

[TD="align: left"]Dear Alumni, Family, and Friends of Colgate Men’s Hockey,

Greetings from the Colgate campus. We have played one nonconference game to date versus Clarkson, and it was just amazing to be able to compete. We do have three more nonconference games scheduled prior to the start of ECAC Hockey league play, which begins on Jan. 1, 2021. Click here to view our full schedule.

So much has gone into getting us to the point where we can play a game. President Casey and his Cabinet, the Task Force to Reopen Colgate, Vice President Nicki Moore and her administrative staff, and every student adhering to the Commitment to Community Health have allowed us to stay as safe as possible, healthy, and able to practice and play.

Our guys have been great and preparing hard. With the stress of everything going on in their lives, we thought it best to give them the opportunity to leave campus for a couple of weeks. They left following our game on Nov. 22 and returned on Dec. 10. They must quarantine for the first few days but can train in small groups (their direct family units) before resuming practice as a full team. We have games scheduled on Dec. 23 versus Clarkson, Dec. 27versus St. Lawrence, and Dec. 29 versus RIT. Assuming all testing goes well and other logistics fall into place, these games will be played and considered nonconference.

With the Ivy League, RPI, and Union cancelling their seasons, ECAC Hockey is left with four teams remaining: Colgate, Clarkson, Quinnipiac, and St. Lawrence. We plan to play each other six times for an 18-game ECAC League schedule. As you will see, there are open weekends that will allow for makeup games should we hit any bumps along the way. It might seem daunting, and of course it will be fluid; that said, I am so appreciative of all of the people who have been involved to get us to a place where we at least have a chance to compete.

On behalf of the entire Colgate Men’s Hockey family, I want to wish you and your loved ones a very safe and happy holiday season. Be well.

Sincerely,

Don Vaughan

I think the game starts at 4. At least that's what the Colgate website says and ESPN+ is not showing it yet. Go 'gate!!

Clarkson 14, Colgate 10, SOG after one.
Colgate 3, Clarkson 3, score after one.
Wild first period.
Former Omaha goalie Kris Oldham in goal for Clarkson.
Andrew Farrier in goal for 'Gate.

Clarkson replaces Kris Oldham with goalie Ethan Haider for start of second period.
Colgate replaces Andrew Farrier with Carter Gylander midway through second period.

Clarkson 22, Colgate 17, SOG after two (on the scoreboard). Clarkson 19-16 on the stat sheet (per the broadcast)..
Colgate 4, Clarkson 4, score after two.
Teams seem pretty even overall, which isn't saying a great deal for either.

Clarkson 26, Colgate 25, SOG after three (on the scoreboard).
Colgate 4, Clarkson 4, score after three.
Colton Young is very impressive. Brothers having fun.
Going to 3-on-3 OT.

Matt Verboon the OT winner!!

Would have been an exciting - and bit frustrating - game to watch in person! We continue to give up an early goal, but scored the one that matters in the end. Smart goaltender change.
Women #1 in PWR ;-)

I am VERY impressed with our frosh ! They look the best since maybe 2012 with the Spinks class. Alex Young three assists, Gylander is huge, takes up three quarters of the goal. I know it's only two games but I liked what I saw.

I agree, Shabby! I like our speed. We owned OT. What a display of puck handling and skating skill throughout the OT. Did Clarkson even touch the puck???? Great game!!!

To read Clarkson’s recap, their players had tired legs and had the last player change. What do we think about 3x3 in OT...

Ok.. so they had tired legs, why ? Cause we were beating them to the puck ? Why weren't our legs tired ? I like the three on three, really brings in the skill factor, The Youngs were superior !
