Colgate 2018-19

Re: Colgate 2018-19

GreenCoat, I saw that news today about Enrico Blasi, whom is one of my fave coaches. When I was an Omaha season-ticket-holder, I often saw Miami play, both at home and away. I was also cheering his team on at the Washington, D.C., Frozen Four (to no avail). This could not have been an easy decision for the admin of his alma mater. I sincerely hope that he lands on his feet.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

Blasi's overall record at Miami was 398-311-76 (55.5%), despite going 47-81-19 over the past four years...ironically Colgate's MIH's record over the past four year? 47-86-17...

Re: Colgate 2018-19

ColSkate65, I officially unsubscribed to ESPN+ yesterday. To their credit, it was easy. I struggled with them early on, then watched several games (or parts of games) with no problems whatsoever, then on Sunday I couldn’t even get in anymore. The price was right and at times it was worth it for me. May try them again next season.
As for the bobsled run, I don’t think I could do it with my ankle-foot-leg braces. Any kind of an incline or decline is a challenge for me. And, what is weird, a slight crack or bump in a sidewalk can upset me (balance). I always look down when not using a cane. Anyway, I will have fun taking in the other Olympic sites (and John Brown’s grave).

If you have any kind of ailment don't even think of the bobsled run, I had a great time but walked out of there with minor bruised ribs on both sides, it's a pretty rough ride and worth every penny.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

With Q-Pac #5, Clarkson #9, Cornell #11, Harvard #12, in the PWR, the ECAC "could" get five teams in the NCAA's if Brown wins Placid. I think if Brown beats Cornell Friday, Cornell still gets in. If they beat the winner of Clarkson vs Harvard, Clarkson and Harvard still get in via PWR. Then Brown gets the autobid, very strange how it all works out.
Magoo, many posts earlier you said five "could" get in, how could I have ever doubted you, lol ?

The stars will have to be aligned to get 5 in but we should be happy with 4. And let’s hope they win some games this year.

LT, you had injuries walking down the bobsled run? :-/ We walked it no problem - lots of fun; maybe that's why no one got hurt.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

Shabby, no, I toured the Motorsports Museum in Weedsport this afternoon and booked myself a room just north of downtown Syracuse. My plan is to get on the road early and try to beat the worst of the storm. I will pick up Clarkson Doug in Ogdensburg, then check-in in Upper Jay, before arriving at rink by 3 p.m. At least that is the plan now.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

iowabasedtraveler...you continue to impress...in a year where a season of fun turned into a season of disappointment your presence on our thread has been a real positive...

Re: Colgate 2018-19

Thanks, GreenCoat. I definitely make my own fun... everyday. I am seated now in Section 6 with friend Clarkson Doug, awaiting Brown’s upset of Cornell. It is gently snowing outside in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Life couldn’t get much better than this (well, Colgate playing here this weekend would make it a heck of a lot better).

Re: Colgate 2018-19

Off topic, but have to give kudos to men's roundball. Losing 77-70 to #2 seed Tennessee is nothing to be ashamed of. We were in the game most of the time and took the lead late, at one point. This team really showed a lot of moxie and should be a force again next year.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

Iowa how much snow did you end up getting in LP? I was going to go up yesterday but didn’t because of the forecast.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

Magoo, it honestly was a non-issue.
Rained all the way from Syracuse to Ogdensburg to Potsdam.
Turned to snow the rest of the way, but not hard at all.
Came out of the arena after two games to find a little ice and snow on the car, but easily scraped/brushed off.
Slow-going from Lake Placid to Upper Jay as it was snowing and blowing and slippery. But, just looked outside now, here in Upper Jay, and there is no new snow on the ground. Sounds like Lake Placid got more overnight.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

Love the atmosphere, the crowd looked and sounded great for the final. These 2 teams get the biggest draws with their fans, yet attendance can't even crack 5,800. Maybe SLU could pack some in there some years. They showed team jerseys hanging with their championship years in the rafters, and there's Colgate with its lone, 1990 title.

It will be 30 YEARS next spring with no title in sight.

Congrats to the Knights.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

After jumping thru hoops trying to connect with this game I gave up on ESPN+ for the final time. It's finis for them....

Congrats to the Golden Knights. It's good to at least keep the Whitelaw Cup in New York State. Clarkson has clawed its way back into the ECAC big picture in just a few years. Can Colgate do the same??

Re: Colgate 2018-19

Headed to Allentown this coming weekend to see Minnesota-Duluth take on Bowling Green, and Quinnipiac face Arizona State.
I saw Bowling Green handle Mercyhurst, 8-2, on October 6, and Quinnipiac beat Colgate, 5-0, on November 17, and again, 6-0, on December 29, on the Island. I was excited about Arizona State’s break-out season ‘til I heard from a knowledgeable friend that they play goon hockey (a la NoDak). And, as a former Omaha season-ticket-holder, I know how tough UMD can be.
I fully expect defending national champion Duluth will take out Quinnipiac in the Allentown finale, but one never knows until the final buzzer. After witnessing a great Clarkson win over Cornell last night, I am already excited about next weekend’s “Midwest” Regional.

Well last year it was 3 and out for the ECAC but these next 4 games are all winnable. I’m a little worried about Harvard’s goaltending from what I saw Friday night.
