Colgate 2018-19

Re: Colgate 2018-19

I'll second CU13's remarks...John has knowledge and, frankly, it's been a tough road over the past several years...he's informative, fair and great on the play-by-play...

Almost everyone is picking us to lose to Brown in the ECAC Pick 'em thread. No disrespect to the Bears, but they've only had ONE home playoff series in the past 13 years. Have we fallen THIS low?

Brown is something like 5-2 in its last 7 including potting 8 goals in last weekend's sweep of Princeton and Q'Pac. They are playing well at the moment.

Brown fan checking in – we’re 9-4-2 since November with two wins over Union and a win over Quinnipiac. We’ve also won four of our last five in the past three weeks, all on the road. I watched the game up at your barn last fall and thought our two teams were fairly similar in talent; but given their current trajectories, I’m not surprised to see most people picking us. I also won’t be that shocked if Colgate pulls off a road win (disappointed, maybe, but not shocked).

Re: Colgate 2018-19

Checking in from Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena for this morning’s RIT at Sacred Heart game. 11:05 a.m. start, then on to New Haven for tonight’s Colgate at Yale contest.
My personal strategy for the ECAC Pick’em contest is to pick against Colgate. If they win, I am thrilled. If they lose, then I gained in the contest. For me personally, it’s a win-win strategy. he he he
Go ‘Gate.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

Yale 11, Colgate 4, SOG after one.
Colgate 0, Yale 0, score after one.
Typical of our style this year...
Outplayed and outshot, but Mitch has kept us in it.
We are still doing a good job with faceoffs.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

"More of the same..." With the exception of perhaps three years this explanation has been accurate for the past 14 years...many of my friends are at the game...since I am traveling tomorrow morning, staying home and watching this farce on the screen was a good excuse...

Re: Colgate 2018-19

SOG was 30-13 when Yale scored their second goal (breakaway).
Again, we are asking Mitch to play offense, defense and goaltend.

ColSkate65, well, it was a closer game... RIT 2, Sacred Heart 0 (despite outshooting RIT by over double). Two new arenas for me, with another new one coming tomorrow night at Brown. But, first, a motorsports museum tour in Warwick in the afternoon. I am really enjoying this road trip, but it does get frustrating following ‘Gate.

What did you think of the Whale? Sorry if the Yale Band did not add to the atmosphere. Bridgeport is a perfect rink for AHL, unfortunately SHU has issues there, kudos to that U for trying though.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

LTSatch... Colgate took Hale to the Whale at Yale today and I loved it. I think it’s a great rink. Love the shape, the openness and the wood (and the hand-railings).
The usher at Bridgeport this morning said the staff told him that they had pre-sold three tickets for the RIT-Sacred Heart contest. My guess is that the walk-up crowd probably added another 47 or so paying patrons. Not kidding.
Oh, and the Colgate Pep Band did an outstanding job at Ingalls Rink tonight. For whatever reason, I took more notice of them tonight than I ever do at home. Not sure why that is exactly.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

No comments on the game? If I’d been in the nets for Yale final score would’ve been 3-0, maybe 3-1, and I’m 68. Tough to win when you’re skating in essence three fourth lines. Yale now 14-4 against us in last eighteen. Comments anyone?

Re: Colgate 2018-19

GreenCoat, what is there actually to say about these games?
We have no offense, no defense, and three freshmen goalies.
It is just a l-o-n-g season for us, which will, in all likelihood, end early in the post-season.
Last night, special teams weren’t a factor, as there were very few penalties called. And, late in the game, things got chippy because of it.

Re: Colgate 2018-19

A small plus from last night's game - we took no penalties ....the first time in 20 years! Hoping for an upset in Providence tonight. Go 'Gate!

Re: Colgate 2018-19

A record-shutout season that cannot be over soon enough. I am in mourning for this program and have been for quite some time because nothing ever changes. Except our beautiful facility 😊

If a prospective player has dreams of playing professionally, Colgate would be hard-pressed to convince him that this is the place to be.
