Re: Colgate 2013-14

Raiders:

Based on the last USCHO, Ferris State has:
Top 20 wins - 2 against #18 Lake Superior (twice)
Top 20 ties - 1 against #7 Michigan
SOS (KRACH) = 32

Based on the last USCHO, Colgate has:
Top 20 wins - 3 against #2 Ferris State, #5 Union, #11 Clarkson
Top 20 ties - 2 against #1 Minnesota, #15 Cornell
SOS (KRACH) = 1

From looking at the rest of the Ferris State 2013/2014 schedule, you look to be the toughest competition they will face for the remainder of the regular hockey season.

We are all cheering for ya !!!!!

Yes. Yes, that's true. Our typical opponents know that well.

MN had a game earlier in the year vs. Notre Dame that drew more viewers than 2 of the 3 NHL games that night. And no, it was not Notre Dame as a game they had against Michigan last year attracted a small fraction of the viewers that this game against MN did. MN is given the prime time spot in most tourneys it plays in regardless, but the potential of a #1 vs. #2 meeting made it unavoidable. Indeed, BTN moved its schedule at the last minute to give MN national coverage just because of our school.

I like the spirit and there are times and places where MN would be vulnerable. But this is not the place and this is not the time.

This year's Gopher team does not play soft games. Our team will lose in a game that's a trap...but that opponent will need to be a western team as they're experts at designing systems to counter us. I do wish you the best of luck and a good game, but Colgate will not win tonight.

Good predictions. Solid analysis.

Good job, 'Gate. Knock 'em down a peg.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Is the only place to watch the game at five on Gophersports.com ? My tv shows a game at 5 pm on FCS and a game at 8pm on BTN ??

Re: Colgate 2013-14

If not for the phantom penalty in the third, Colgate wins it outright. Still a great result. Good luck this afternoon.

I tried to get the game last nite on Minn's and Ferris State team websites, but failed. Guess you had to get it on TV, eh?

Finn saved the game in several spots, but overall a tremendous effort by our team. Just shows what we can do when we are up for it and playing great hockey. Wish I could have seen it. But GR did a good job with the play-by-play and the OT was amazing with the fire wagon action. What an exciting finish; and then the shootout win. In spite of being a "tie" this goes down in the books as one of the more unexpected wins in Raider history IMO.

Hopefully we can play FS like we did in the second of our earlier matches. Did GR say our game is at 5 PM despite being in the "championship" matchup? I can't believe they wouldn't have our game in the 8 PM time slot.

The only TV games this weekend here are the Minnesota games. There will be video for Colgate-Ferris available through Gophers All-Access. It's pay-to-watch video. The schedule with Minnesota playing the 7:00 PM game was pre-set ahead of time. Same thing happened when Colgate played at the Wisconsin tournament in 07-08. Likely reason being the home team, in this case Minnesota, wants the night game so that the attendance will be higher.

I can't remember if your station does in-period commercials (sadly another station overpowers you guys here), but they did have media timeouts during the early game yesterday.

Can we make the new rink an Olympic sheet? 2-0 last year, beat number 1 and 2 in Minnesota this year.

I was just going to say this, great trip for Colgate and congrats to the team. I streamed the game and my only complaint is that they put too many shots wide of the net on Motte. Besides that absolute great performance. Maybe some of these western schools will start taking the ECAC more seriously as they continue to show they are one of the best leagues. Great shutout for Finn and hope to see him continue to play great.

Rules book says to make it as close to 200x85 as possible. Obviously the myriad of other rinks are grandfathered in, but I would think they'd want new rinks at the NHL size. The last Olympic sheet to be built was at NMU in 1999.
