Re: Colgate 2012-13

Not to nitpick but only six skaters and a goalie. Citron is listed for 2014-15.

You're right, he's not coming until next year.

Trust me, it's seven skaters and one goalie. The two players that dropped off the Heisenberg list were replaced.

Who besides Nitsche dropped ? Any defensemen coming in of the two ? Harrison got drafted but forgot by who.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Colgate website today mentions a 10 man recruiting class for this year.

"Harrison is part of a 10-man recruiting class that head coach Don Vaughan and the program are bringing in this season. The team will be a young one with 18 skaters being freshmen or sophomores."

I only see 7 on College Hockey Inc. and 8 on Heisenberg website.

If our website is correct about having 18 freshman/soph skaters, then we will dress 26 skaters??? 18 Freshman/Soph plus Seniors (McCann, Mihalik) and Juniors (Corcoran, Spiro, Gentzler, Lidgett, Wilson and ??Estep)

Any other info out there????

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Blemberg,

No team will ever dress 26 skaters. It is typical for most college teams to carry around 26 players. Only 20-21 dress per game. 12 forward - 6 defensemen - 2 or 3 goalies.

Harrison played at Dexter School in Massachusetts with Ryan Donato, the son of Harvard hockey coach Ted.

The roster I've seen has eight newcomers so they must be waiting on a couple more kids to sign before officially announcing. That would mean 26 total players - 22 skaters and four goalies. This will give the team some wiggle room with four skater scratches a night.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

'Gate Radio...that would be great...the entire process seems a little bit fuzzy (next year we lost 2, but, technically, we're entitled to, I think, six)...whatever it takes...the whole issue of kids "committing" is becoming a subject for discussion...in the past if a young man "committed" to, say, Notre Dame, there was a type of gentlemen's agreement that other schools would not try and "poach" the player...unfortunately, it is becoming apparent that certain programs get too many "commits", i.e., they are abusing the system...Notre Dame and BC come to mind...maybe it's time to play a little hard ball...

Re: Colgate 2012-13

interesting tidbit I found when looking at season tickets for next year. We do NOT play Cornell at home next year. (well aware this is just a misprint or typo). http://www.gocolgateraiders.com/documents/2013/6/26/12-13MHOCKticket_brochure.pdf?id=3090. I do have to say that our out of conference schedule looks tough especially in October.

Any reason why their isn't a discount if you just buy the friday or saturday only packages? 10 games if you throw in Cornell and Vermont at 12 dollars a pop and its 120 dollars. Doesn't really seem worth it, might as well just go and buy them every week in case you can't make a week.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

I still maintain that Silver Puck Club members should either get free tix or $1/$2 bucks off reserved admission for home games. I'm not a "deep pockets" contributor, but do make a yearly donation. Isn't that loyalty worth something?

Re: Colgate 2012-13

agree with ColSkate65...Silver Puck does NOT do a good job in providing any incentive to increase (or even continue) one's year-to-year contribution...we did announce the 10-man freshman class today on The 'Gate's website...Thank God...hopefully, this is a new beginning for us: 18 combined sophs and freshmen, the prospect of a new rink, etc.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Colgate men's hockey program and head coach Don Vaughan will be welcoming its largest list of newcomers in recent memory with 10 skaters ready to suit up in the maroon and white.

This year's newcomers consist of six Americans and four Canadians. Four of the six Americans are from Massachusetts, with one from New York and New Hampshire. The Canadians consist of two from Quebec and one each from British Columbia and Alberta.

Emilio Audi comes to Colgate after spending last season with the Pembroke Lumber Kings of the Central Canadian Hockey League. He scored 60 points on 16 goals and 44 helpers as a forward for the Lumber Kings and was an all-star. Audi competed for Westminster School in the Founders League before Pembroke and had 73 points on 23 goals and 50 assists. He was a three-sport athlete for the Martlets.

Andrew Black makes the short trip east from Buffalo after playing the last two seasons with the Jersey Hitmen of the Eastern Junior Hockey League. The 2012-13 EJHL Player of the Year had 108 points in 89 games with the Hitmen on 50 goals and 58 assists. He scored 78 points a season ago with 12 points in the playoffs. Black and the Hitmen won the Dineen Cup and were EJHL Regular Season Champions and Southern Division Champions.

Brett Corkey shifts to Division I hockey after playing three seasons with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League. He was part of the BCHL Championship team in 2010-11 for the Vipers. They won the Doyle Cup and RBC Cup in the same season and Corkey was a BCHL First Team All-Star in 2011-12. He finished his junior career with 85 points in 167 career games and was a two-time Vipers' Top Defenseman.

Julian Fialkow is the first of four skaters from Massachusetts. He played one season with the Valley Jr. Warriors of the Eastern Junior Hockey League and tallied one point in 12 games played. Fialkow attended The Eaglebrook School for a post-graduate year after going to Beaver Country Day School.

The only goalie in the Class of 2017 is Charlie Finn, who played three years with the Kingston Voyageurs of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He was a two-time OJHL Goaltender of the Year and led the league twice in goals against average and once in save percentage. Finn was a first team OJHL All-Star and played for Canada East in the U19 World Junior A Challenge.

Derek Freeman comes to Colgate after spending last season with the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs of the EJHL. He tallied 40 points in 38 games for the Monarchs. Freeman played a year with the Northern Cyclones of the Eastern Hockey League prior to New Hampshire and had 48 points in 44 games. He recorded 122 points in four seasons of play with Newburyport High School and was a four-time all-league selection and the Cape Ann League Most Valuable Player in 2010.

Tim Harrison joins the squad after being drafted in the sixth round by the Calgary Flames in the 2013 NHL Draft. He skated for two years with the Dexter School in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council. He recorded 69 points while at Dexter on 44 goals and 45 assists in 46 games. Dexter went 21-2-4 in his final season and he also won a New England Championship in lacrosse.

Brooks Herrington is the lone transfer for the Raiders this year as he comes to Colgate after two seasons at Vermont. He skated in 18 games for the Catamounts. Herrington played for the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs for two seasons and won the EJHL Championship in 2010. He scored 108 points in 101 games for the Monarchs.

Jake Kulevich is a 6-3 defenseman that played last season with the South Shore Kings of the EJHL. He had 21 points in 44 games with the Kings and was an EJHL All-Star in 2013. Kulevich skated one post-graduate year at the Berkshire School and also was the Massachusetts Division 3 Player of the Year for Marblehead High School. He led the Magicians to the 2011 state championship and was a two-year captain.

Anthony Sanniti makes the move to Colgate after two seasons in the Central Canadian Hockey League with the Cornwall Colts and Hawkesbury Hawks. Sanniti tallied 57 points on nine goals and 48 assists in his CCHL career. He won the 2013 CCHL Championship with the Colts and had three helpers during the playoffs. He started his junior career with the Hawks and tallied 60 points in 70 games.

Colgate and Cornell are trying to arrange a neutral-site game that would replace Colgate's home game vs. Cornell. Originally it was going to be an outdoor game at a BIG stadium, however, looks like that has fallen through. They are trying to salvage that concept however. Stay tuned.....

Crunch doing an outdoor game at the Fairgrounds again and they're trying to piggy back off that?

Re: Colgate 2012-13

I doubt that Cornell would agree to the Fairgrounds when they've been able to pack the house at MSG for the past few years.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Definitely no outdoor crunch game again, that was a disaster as far as logistics, bathrooms, etc... go. IF anything that game would be played in the War Memorial if it was in the 'cuse. Cornell already has a game at MSG, they won't do two there.

Not to mention, the War Memorial is already double booked with indoor soccer in there as well.
