Re: Colgate 2012-13

Your goalies were hung out to dry, I haven't seen Gate play so well in years. It was
Two or three passes that left a wide open net, a breakaway, I wouldn't blame it on the goalies.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

I would call it a combination of extremely poor transition defense and bad goaltending. Defensive zone coverage also left a lot to be desired as Colgate was allowed to cycle pretty much at will with all four lines. That said, neither Campbell nor Drost inspired a lot of confidence.

Colgate was simply too quick for Niagara circle-to-circle and the Raiders raced down the ice almost every time Niagara turned the puck over around the CU blue line. It was definitely the fastest I've seen a Colgate team get up and down the ice in six years.

For Niagara, I think you just burn the game tape of from Tuesday after watching it once and move on. Every team has a night when just about nothing goes right - that was Tuesday at Starr Rink for the Purple Eagles.

Also, it should be noted that Niagara was missing a couple of regulars on the back end, injured scratches, that may very well have helped.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Thanks for the responses. I think Niagara will later in the season look back at this as an anomaly too. It has been quite some time since they have been vanquished like that. Only powerhouse schools like Minnesota and Michigan have lately been able to beat them by about 5 goals and even that Michigan game was evenly played. Last year Colgate put up a season high 7 on Niagara but the Purple Eagles scored 6 of their own yet followed that with a 2-1 Niagara win the next night. Colgate fans should have a lot to look forward to by this though as Niagara will probably rebound enough for a decent season. You may be better than expected as it appears the fundamentals are solidly in place.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Looking forward to tonight's game, will either watch (if it's being streamed) or listen.

November 23 against Merrimack (away) is being televised on FOX College sports network.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

The game is being streamed through Miami All-Access on muredhawks.com. The cost for a month subscription is $9.95, you just have to remember to cancel at the end of the month or a new month will be charged to your credit card. This is the first year they are supposedly using an HD camera. I watched the exhibition last weekend and the picture was pretty good with a few minor gaffes when trying to show replays and some odd lighting at times. Overall, I think it's worth the money.

Glad the season is starting up. Best of luck to Colgate this season, but hoping Miami gets it done this weekend. :D

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Glad to know I'm not the only one who can't get the radio feed to play....what happened to Teamline??

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Shabby -- consider yourself lucky that you were unable to get the radio feed tonight. Three days after putting up a 10-spot we lay a goose egg. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come but its still early in the season.

That said, I kinda feel bad about giving a freshman goaltender his first career shutout in his first career start. Go get 'em tomorrow.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Back to earth !! USCHO wouldn't even respond later in the night.

Finney played the third in goal and was a perfect nine saves. Miami sight says Mihalik let in soft goals he should have saved(for what it's worth). Maybe Finney gets a start tonight ?

Re: Colgate 2012-13

I got 93.9, but weaker than normal. We need to lodge our complaints with GateRadio. Too bad about last night; go get 'em tonite..

I didn't know the stream was down until I saw the posts between I think the second and third periods. At that point, there wasn't really anything I could do. We're working on getting the stream back online right now. Hopefully it should be good to go fairly soon.

(EDIT - 11:47 AM - The stream is now up and running.)

As for TEAMLINE, we no longer use the service. We stopped broadcasting through TEAMLINE back in January and our primary Internet broadcast is now through the radio station web site (http://www.wkxzfm.com) on the Listen Live link.

And the radio signal, I have no idea. I know for me, some nights it comes in pretty strong and others it doesn't. Depends on the weather, clouds, etc.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Well, that was depressing. Guess it's part of the growing pains.

Our next game will be no easier. Tyson Spink was hit with a game DQ which means he'll sit out on Friday night. Given the fact that we only have 13 forwards on the roster this puts us in a risky situation.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

GR said last night it WAS NOT a DQ. Are you sure it is ? Oops the recap says it was, looks like the Spink boys play with an edge, they have to learn not to be selfish and hurt the team. Growing pains I guess, as Don said we will have.

It was a DQ. I swore it said game misconduct on my stat monitor and I didn't find out until after the game was over.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Also Borkowski with a game misconduct Friday night. The frosh are going to have to learn this kind of thing will come back to bite the team, as we've seen in recent sseasons. To bad about last nite; would have been nice to come away with a tie at least.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

As per Heisenberg, another commitment for next season. The 2017 class is coming together. The size issue is also being addressed - four of the current six commits are 6-1 or taller. It also should be noted that one of the defensemen, that played at Berkshire last season, is now with the EJ's South Shore Kings - same program that produced Chris Wagner.

It very well could have changed and you did not misread. I thought one of the new rules (or at least it was proposed but may not have made it) was that video review may be used to determine whether a penalty is a misconduct or a DQ.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Let's have some enthusiasm here. Two-game set with BG starting tonight.

Posters must have threatened Sullivan last season. He's got us winning, 4-1 and 5-2 this weekend. Won't have Tyson tonight.....or was that Tyler :)
