Re: Colgate 2012-13

Let's have some enthusiasm here. Two-game set with BG starting tonight.

Posters must have threatened Sullivan last season. He's got us winning, 4-1 and 5-2 this weekend. Won't have Tyson tonight.....or was that Tyler :)

Which Spink isn't playing? I need to update my fantasy team accordingly.

Miami blew up the game in the final minutes, smothering any hope for a Colgate comeback. Colgate’s Tyson Spink was assessed a five-minute major and game disqualification for contact to the head of Miami’s Marc Hagel, forcing the Raiders to play a man down for the final 4:26.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

So Bowling Green's starting goalie gets hurt 29 seconds into the game, their backup comes in cold, and doesn't allow a goal for the first 57 minutes of the game.

Then we saw a similar script: down two goals, we score a 3rd-period goal to get within one, then give up a goal late in the 3rd with the goalie still in the net to snuff out any chance of a comeback. Even worse this was a defenseman scoring a goal on a breakaway.

Other than that, I thought Spencer Finney played well given it was his first collegiate start. On the other hand, not having Tyson Spink in the lineup may have affected us. Can we get a win tomorrow night? I sure hope so.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Patience is in order, although I remain somewhat concerned about the goaltending situation...I'm glad Finney is playing early, as something must be done to get the starting goaltending to play with greater consistency and avoid the soft goal...I also worry about depth issues; we've been very fortunate over the past several years in terms of games lost due to injury, especially to our top tier players...is that attendance number correct??? seems we continue to have a student body that is rather blase (to say the least) about their fellow students competing in the top tier of college hockey...too bad...

The students that were there - a number that seemingly got larger as the night went on - were loud and into the game. Quite the sight to be honest. A group of students spent the entire night standing (one guy in a neon green full-body spandex leotard) and chanting at various times. By the start of the third period, the "Raider Nation" section was just about full of students. There could certainly have been more of them but the ones that showed up wanted to be there and they weren't just there because it was a social event (i.e. Cornell game).

The biggest issue now will be getting those kids to come back and to have them bring more friends.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

We get the split. And the Spink line gets 3 of the 4 goals! Glad to hear the first-years are contributing immediately.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Good rebound win tonight after a disappointing loss on Friday night. All four goals scored by rookies! It should also be noted that the 3 first period goals were scored by Tylor Spink, Tyson Spink, and Kyle Baun. All 3 played for Cornwall before coming to Colgate and all 3 were playing together on the same line tonight.

Don't forget Mike Borkowski, who originally was on the Cumberland Grads with Kevin Lough, then was traded to Cornwall where he played most of last year on a line with the Spinks twins!

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Friday night the lines were all mixed up people said ! Last night we looked like the team that hammered Niagara(who got tied by Mich State in the last minute last night).

The Spink..Spink...Baun line is playing like vets. They are controlling and their passing is phenominal, sometimes looking like they're on the powerplay. As teams put their best line against them I think the other two will start putting up some points. The team is very fast breaking out of their own zone...I like this team alot.

Johnston and Lough move the puck very well and Lough is starting to carry the puck making rushes(fun to watch).

RIT next weekend(who Lost to Penn State last night in front of over 10,000 fans). Then, believe it or not Cornell in just two weeks). Wow

Re: Colgate 2012-13

would agree...Spink-Spink-Baun certainly do not play like freshmen...great awareness on the ice as well as chemistry from Cornwall days...both frosh d-men look pretty comfortable as well...one day at a time...

Sad to see INCH has gone belly-up. Was a good website. Some of their coverage will continue at inchwriters.com

Looking forward to seeing Anthony Hamburg for RIT(left Gate) I'm doing one of the penaty boxes so I'm really able to get an on ice perspective.
