I will say it again !! DV is an overachiever, given scholastic requirements, the best high school rink in college hockey, located in the middle of nowhere, how has he accomplished good teams at all ? Frankly I'm getting fed up with the "mamby pamby" complainers here. Yes I'm very disappointed too..but chit happens.

Are the complainers here parents of some of the players ?? I think so ! Are there problems in the locker room..beginning to assume that also. Seems to me the players are trying their butts off, the effort is there from the games I've seen.

The last thing we need right now is adversity, everyone "get together," support the team, the players, "The Coach", we don't need any "cancers" internally !!!

And Colgate administration...get the students to the game...whatever it takes,,.the stands are full half an hour before the Cornell game, advertise, contests, free pizza, do something, anything. Grrrrrrrrr

I wonder who is leading the team in the locker room and on the ice?

No one has mentioned that Mihalik is the ECAC goaltender of the week. Congrats to him! :)

Sshablak- you blast someone for being critical of DV and undermining things and then you go and undermine the captains by saying Brosbois is the leader. Let's all stop the I hear this and I hate that. Let's focus on what this team needs- wins and fans. Agree with the comment that the school needs to get behind this team and do what it takes to get students out. Perhaps a rink like Claerkson's that incorporates the student center with the rink? The administration needs to get behind this team or throw in the towell and join Hamiltonm at the D-3 level. Still must not be much of a recruiting problem if we landed 7 NHL draftees.

By saying Brisebois is a leader is undermining the captains ?? Good Lord !! Noone can be a leader but the captains ??? You newbies on here even cause problems here...we never had bickering here !!! Isn't your son getting enough ice time ??? Is this what it's like in the lockerroom? Is that the problem ??

Wow- Newbies not welcome. Maybe the newbies should start our own thread so we don't annoy you? I've been following Colgate hockey longer than you most likely. maybe you are the newbie.

Had a self imposed a "no-post ban" on myself until a W, but seeing the trash talking going on between shabby and Hokeyeh I couldn't help but interject. Maybe this is what we need! Some fire in the belly amongst the squad and fans. No doubt in my mind everyone associated with this team wants a W. From the bus driver to the head coach and everyone in between. We'd all like nothing better.

So here's what I'm thinking. We go to Dartmouth and sneak up on BC. Then we win the Championship game on New Years EVE and serve notice that 2011 is our year! I've heard coach V say it twice now and I do believe he is right. They are not far away from putting some W's up.

Leadership on a team is "sometimes" indicated by those who wear a letter. However, a good leader knows when to step up and lead themselves or, take a step back and let someone else step up and lead....and those who step up need not wear a letter. I sense a lot of frustration within the Colgate faithful. Please excuse the intrusion, but I have seen your team play on four occasions. My opinion is that the talent is there, but the chemistry and mental fortitude is lacking. Coach V has a monumental task ahead of him.....getting this team on the winning track. When you are lacking talent, skill and ability, it is somewhat easy to address and manage as head coach. However, to deal with a team's psych and mental state is definitely a challenge that we will see play out as the season progresses. Back to the games....I see a lot of bad habits on the part of both forwards and D. Good habits start in practice. Coach V needs to emphasize practice habits.....good habits in practice will translate into good habits in games. Let's hope this team can reach its potential. They will need to step up their individual play, with the goal of team success as a motivation.

Amen..hockey mascot, you said it al. Chemistry and mental fortitude is lacking ! A nice way of saying there's a problem in the lockerroom.

Good News of the Day. 3 BC players named to WJC team today and will not be at Dartmouth for the New Years tournament. Kreider, Dumoulin and Wey.

Heck, I'd make the drive over to watch this! Wonder if they can work it into 1st intermission entertainment at the RPI game, a little 3-bar action... :p

Season's greetings from The'Coat...upon the advice of my psychiatrist my beverage of choice during the video feed of the 'Gate's hockey games for 2011 has been changed from chardonnay to Jack Daniels (out of the bottle)...this lifestyle decision has several advantages, one of which is that on many nights I will be passed out prior to the conclusion of our games...

For those of you who are getting tired of reading the holiday mail, I suggest you take a look at Union's hockey roster (BCJHL presence) or any number of ECAC programs that seem to be getting it right. My wish for the New Year is that SOMEONE (hopefully our new president) takes note that our composite winter sports record (men's hoops and hockey) is now 3-21-1. The problems surrounding the hockey program didn't start this year. They have arisen over the past 4-5 years and if there are still those that claim (and there are a few) that it is simply a problem of subpar goaltending and some bad bounces are being, at best, intellectually lazy.

This statement actually made me spit my chardonnay out of my nose! Well said. And I think I may follow suit accordingly. Hopefully, this will turn things around in '11. . . .
