Worse comes to worse, RPI could travel to Hamilton tomorrow (game day) since it's only a two-hour'ish trip. The Thruway would be the way to go since the back roads (i.e. Route 20) are likely to be a mess.

I can't forsee anything being postponed unless it is to Sunday because the playoffs start next weekend and those can't be pushed back.

Yeah but, yeesh, coming off I-90 in Utica -- what is it, Rte 51 to Rte 20? -- is nightmarishly windy. Not sure I'd want to be driving a bus down that road in the snow. What is a better way, out to Oneida and down Rte 46?

I-90 (Thruway) west to Exit 31. Connect to I-790/NY 8/NY 12, go south to Rte. 12B. Follow south to Hamilton. Or take the Thruway to Exit 32 (NY 233) and go south until you hit 12B. Then follow 12B south to Hamilton.

That minimizes the local road travel as much as possible.

OMG ...Gotter, rte 51 ??? That goes so far around. From Utica you either take rte 12b thru Clinton, Deansboro, Oriskany Falls and Madison...all hamlets except for Clinton...30 miles from Utica to Hamilton, roughly 40 minutes. Or..take rte 12 from Utica to Waterville...then hit rte 20 west from Waterville to Madison and 12b south to Hamilton ....also 30 miles but less small towns.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

I have no idea what to expect from Colgate Friday night. RPI's coming off a terrible game last Saturday and I expect them to come out strong. Lately we haven't started games well. And if we get a mediocre game from Evin we're in big trouble. For once I'd like to see us get an early jump with a quick goal or 2 in the 1st period.

A lot of things have broken in our favor to put us in this position. Now it's time for this team to finally rise to the occasion and play the kind of hockey we all think they're capable of playing. It would be nice to string a few wins together going into the postseason - we haven't won 3 in a row since November.

Good luck 'Gate!!

Westbound, the thruway arcs north into Utica, so 51 is actually six miles shorter mileage-wise than your first option and seven miles shorter than the second. :)

But probably slower. And definitely no place for a bus in snow.

I'm not normanly a wus but I hope the bus driver at RPI knows what he's doing. Roads impassible here, schools closed, and snow still coming down (with wind). Better get a jump on things and leave the Capital Dis't this morning. Go slow!

Gate Radio - call a great game tonight please as I will be home listening. No way I can make it up to Rte 20 & over to Hamilton....:( Maybe tomorrow.

If they didn't cancel the 2003 football games, there's NO way they'll cancel this! Isn't tonight's game on tv?!

C'mon, 'Gate!!! Time to SWEEEEEP!!!

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

The weather here in Hamilton is beautiful, sunny, and roads have been sorted out fairly well. The snow is actually melting, and the Game is on. RPI was here last night, and practiced today.
Lets get the BYE.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

YOWEE! We're in 4th...:D

Our old nemesis, the PP did us proud tonight. Evin makes some great saves, and DAmico hits the pipe in the last minute to avoid tieing up the game.

What a great effort in an up and down contest. The guys hung in there - and we owe Dartmouth a brew for their efforts up north...:)

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

WOO-HOO !!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

If there was a game we needed to win, this was it !!!!! 1st-round bye !!!!! Thank you Dartmouth!!!!!

Was fortunate to watch the game on TV tonight. I thought we played a decent 1st period, but a horrible 2nd period. We were pwned in faceoffs in period no. 2 and gave up 2 goals in a 2-minute span. I'm inclined to say that it was due to some sloppy play in our own end but NO EXCUSES at this time of the year. That said, we did score 3 power-play goals tonight :D :D :D but it wasn't over until it was over. We had to kill a penalty with 4 min. left and DIDN'T GET A SINGLE CLEAR. We were fortunate not to have been scored on. Then the final minute with a 6-on-5 for RPI, we were able to hold on. At least we got the bye.

Does tomorrow's game mean anything? No. Union is locked into 3rd, 'Gate locked into 4th. But tomorrow is about our seniors. Here's to a win honoring our 6 seniors. That said, I really hope the pep band shows up tomorrow, especially since I know 3 dedicated members in the band who are graduating this year and should be honored as well. (That said, last year's band seniors including yours truly didn't get a proper recognition due to an RPI player slamming Jason Williams into the boards...)

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

What a tremendous job by the Red Raiders tonight! They played a great game and deserve all the credit in the world. I thought we played a great 1st period - up-tempo, passes on the tape. I also thought we played good in the 2nd until RPI got their goals. But McIntyre stepped up with the great set-up to Smith to tie it - we needed that goal in the worst way or else RPI might have taken control. McIntyre was all over the ice - he played like an All-American tonight when we needed him to. And as Colskate said, Evin came up huge in the 3rd period, especially on D'Amigo all alone in front of the net with 5:48 to go. And, yes, the power play!! It won the game for us, although York probably should have stopped Prokow's goal. Up to that point I thought RPI was outplaying us the the 3rd and we would have been in trouble if they had taken the lead.

Well I was wrong about us not getting the bye, and I was wrong about SLU as I thought they would win their games at home this weekend. It's nice to be wrong once in a while:D

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see RPI back at Starr Rink in 2 weeks. But with the way this year's gone - who knows? All I know is that Colgate will definitely be at Starr Rink in 2 weeks. Let's hope some more fans will be there, too.

Congratulations to the team for coming through in a big spot!!
