Coaching Changes - 2011 Offseason Edition

Re: Coaching Changes - 2011 Offseason Edition

that would be a better decision for sure.

Guys...my daughter played last year for Castleton and she was told that Bill Bowes from Holy Cross will be the coach. As for the car dealer coach that was the assistant coach Joe Ferrara. The girls are very excited for next year. There is a lot of support and commitment from the school and the city of Rutland. Untapped potential as a program. Go Spartans!

Has anyone heard who will be taking the Head Job at Brown.
It is the beginning of August.

Are there any rumours as to where Jim fetter will land?

What other coaching vacancies are still open, and unfilled.

Congratulations to Shera Vis, former Minnesota State Maverick and Elmira College Women's Hockey assistant coach as she lands the inaugural Women's Head Coaching gig at Stevenson University. Nice!

Congratulations to Ms. Vis. Let us hope her success at Stevenson spearheads explosive growth of women's hockey in the mid-Atlantic!

I thought it was Jody McKenna? Wasn't it already announced?

Looks like the various "confirmations" were off, as I was told today that Miss McKenna is NOT the next Brown coach.

Re: Coaching Changes - 2011 Offseason Edition

The other possibility is that the situation is as reported. Some of these coaches make good money. Others have salaries that can easily be surpassed in the private sector. I've heard many a pro athlete complain that they can't provide for their family for a "mere" 20 or 30 million dollars, so it would be in the realm of possibility that a coach with a family would decide that he needs to earn more than he can coaching women's hockey. Bad timing for the program, to be sure, but none of these schools asks their coach if the timing is convenient when it comes to a termination.
