I went to a climate change and public health panel tonight with Paul Douglas, whom all Minnesotans will know as a local meteorologist.
He’s interesting as he was raised conservative and didn’t believe in climate change in the early 90s.
Now he’s a full convert. Said there’s no arguing with science and people need to be able to look at data that makes them uncomfortable. Said he doesn’t get how science became a partisan issue, which was great because the defeated GOP congressman who lost Edina last year was sitting in there all smug. He also said many farmers are coming up to him and remarking how all the flooding has really hurt them and they know something is going on- but they can’t stop voting republican, basically. Ended by saying he thinks private sector has to start forcing electric, he is for carbon taxes, and that he can’t live with himself if he doesn’t try and do everything he can to give his grandkids a habitable world.
