CCHA v3.0 - AU BGSU BSU FSU LSSU MSU MTU NMU & Special Deserters - The UST Tommies

That feels a little overdramatic. Everyone understands this was a weird situation, I'm not willing to say the sky is falling yet. Now, if there is no improvement with next year's squad and recruiting, maybe we can begin to panic.

It might be over dramatic, and I hope it is. With the state of athletics now, the free for all with money and movement, this is going to be tough to hold together in Marquette.

NMU you got a new big donor now get a sliver of his cash.

I don't think this is NMU's problem alone. Schools that are DI in hockey only are going to be a harder sell for top tier players when universities are waving money at them. May be with the opening up of CHL players will help. On the other hand if I'm an overage CHL player and un-drafted and only NMU is interested do I give that chance or just get on with life outside of hockey? It will be interesting to see what happens.

I'll be interested to see how many juniors can get through the NCAA clearinghouse. It's one more level that they haven't dealt with to this point.

But knowing what the facilities are like (at least in Ontario) like I do, I think there are a lot of appealing places to land for players in college hockey.

You won't see the big name teams taking a lot of guys. But if NMU or Lake State can improve their 3rd or even 2nd line, I think they'd be smart to pursue that talent upgrade. That's the main reason I think this benefits the CCHA and raises the floor of the level of play in the sport overall.

Totally agree with JJM on this one. I think the overall level of talent improves with the addition, at least in the CCHA. Also, kudos to BSU. good game beating Minnesota last night.

Well, Christmas came early for Mankato tonight. I didn't think there was any way it wasn't a goal in OT for LSSU, I didn't think the original puck carrier touched the goalie and the puck was then in the crease. the second guy doesn't know where it is, spins around, it hits his skate and goes in and in the middle of this a mankato player knocks the goalie down. this is goalie interference? News to me. But whatever. Lake State has a beef but this happens in Mankato a lot, so i'm not surprised.

But you were perfectly OK with the 5 minute major and game misconduct call for "Grasping the facemask" on Jordon Power earlier in the game. No way did he grab the facemask. If that terrible call was not made, this game would not have even went into overtime.

The Minnesota Collegiate Hockey Conference strikes again.

I watched the replay several times. He definitely kicked it in. It didn't just "hit his skate," he kicked it. The referee never said why it was no goal after review, but I believe it was for kicking it, not for goalie interference.

Lake State got five-minute power plays both nights. The Friday one was deserved. Tonight's was not.

Crazy third period in Bemidji last night. That's a lot of goals for those two teams. St. Thomas near the bottom of the standings at the break...

The overturn was for goalie interference, which was just as dubious. They apparently called Batchelder for contacting Tracy on his way past and deemed that he didn't have a chance to reset. The problem with that is the reason he couldn't was his own defenseman crashing into him and taking his feet away. It's a blown call and a two point swing for both teams that may be the difference in a lot at the end of the season.

If you're saying Piku kicked that intentionally, he's a magician because he's spinning the other direction and not looking at his foot. There's no way that gets overturned for the kick.

Man I really like the way Bowling Green is coming on strong this back half, they will move up the standings now.

Three EA goals allowed this weekend. Grrrr. We should have 3 more points. Had Bemidji played 6 attackers for all 120 min this weekend we would have been destroyed.

The boys are starting to get comfortable with Willy's free-flowing offensive style that relies on creativity and higher hockey IQ. It's a radical departure from the rigid structure Bergeron originally laid down that Eigs kept in place. O'Hara was goal-less in the first half but now has 6 goals in 5 games. Still a ways to go but looking at the CHL guys coming in next year (6F, 1D, 1G) has everyone leaning forward in their seats in anticipation. Five of those "kids" have better CHL numbers than Swankler did during his time in the OHL plus they're all '04 birthdays.

I think the takeaway from this isn't necessarily that BG is going to be awesome next year (who knows how these numbers translate to college hockey), it's that both BG and the CCHA as a whole suddenly have access to a pool of players that, on paper anyway, are "better" than the USHL/BCHL leftovers that have been available to the collective "us" in the recent past.

is it just me or is MIDCO Sports the worst streaming service out there? Terrible

I can't say anything about Midco as I did not pay for the service. I can comment on the CCHA Website which can't even get the standings correct some weeks. It is very embarrassing when the league's website can't even get their own standings correct.

I don't know if the streaming is bad, or the overall production everywhere is has just gotten terrible. It's like they are trying for theatrical productions instead of hockey. Zoomed in tight to the point you can only see half the zone. They chase the puck and can't keep up. Picture gets shaky from trying to move the camera so fast. It's like they're trying to produce the broadcasts for someone to watch on their phone. Very, very few replays as well. When a play is under review, show us each angle multiple times. Then again, I'm not sure most of the production people even know what they're reviewing for.

Bemidji in particular was poor last weekend. Every time Northern scored, it was like the camera operators went into spastic chimp mode and had no idea what to point at.
