CCHA Pick ‘Em 2026-27 - Tommie Free Edition.

Welcome Pick ‘Em fans to the 2026-27 edition of the CCHA Pick ‘Em contest. This year we bid adieu to the Tommies and celebrate an even number of teams in the league. Good luck to everyone. Here are the particulars:

Click the link, fill out the form (don’t forget your screen name), submit your picks. If you want to change any of your picks, fill out a new form. I will take the last submission as your final answer.

Scoring:
3 points for a regulation win
2 points for an OT or shootout win (shootout for CCHA conference games only)
1 point for an OT or shootout loss (shootout for CCHA conference games only)
0 points for a regulation loss

For OOC regular season and specific tournament games there will be the option to pick a tie. If the game ends in a tie at the end of the NCAA OT period, 3 points will be awarded. If either team wins, zero points will be awarded.

Periodically there will be a bonus question (or two...) worth 5-10 points. There are also two bonus questions available only in week 1 that will cover the entire CCHA regular season.

Only NCAA-sanctioned games will be counted (no exhibition games).

Playoffs will be mano-a-mano single elimination with seeding based on regular season finish. Playoff participation and seeding will be determined based on the number of participants and overall standings. More on the playoffs later.

Four awards are up for grabs:
o MacNaughton Cup – Regular season champion as determined by total points - Last Year’s Winner: mbenecke
o Mason Cup – Playoff champion - Last Year’s Winner: mbenecke
o Bill Beagan Trophy – Highest regular season points percentage (based solely on picks, no bonus) - Last Year’s Winner: mbeneckecke
o Jeff Sauer Trophy – Most bonus points - Last Year’s Winner: iowabasedtraveler

Minnesota at Michigan Tech on Friday is postponed.
How does that affect our picks?
Does our pick for Friday now become our pick for Sunday?
We keep the same order. The first pick which was for Fridays game moves to Sat. The second pick for Saturdays game moves to Sun.

Since the games have yet to be played, if you want to make any changes just fill out a new form.

There's a Thursday game this week so as we await the outcome of the delayed Tech/Gopher game this afternoon, here are the Week 2 forms to get you going. Week 1 results will be posted this evening/tomorrow morning.

ALSO THERE WILL BE A DOUBLE DOUBLE BONUS AVAILABLE IN WEEK 2! Picking Northern Michigan to beat Michigan State or Ferris State to beat Western Michigan will be worth double points! That's 6 points for a win, 4 points for an OT win, and 2 points for an OT loss. A tie is still worth 3 points. You must pick Northern and/or Ferris to win to collect.

Congratulations to our week 1 winners who each posted 17 points. If you're wondering, yes, this is the most number of weekly winners ever, here's the list: beaverhockeyfan, Berger21, BGSURICK, jwheeler001, mbenecke, MTUHuskyGold, and Tommiealum93. Well done, gang! Stick taps go to mbenecke who was the only contestant to correctly pick the Ferris/Canisius tie on Saturday. Stick taps also go out to Footballguy51, Manurespreader, and Tommiealum93 who were the only contestants to correctly pick Tech to sweep the Gophers. Lastly, let's recognize iowabasedtraveller, Footballguy51, and Hockey John who stared down the barrel of despair and didn't flich when they picked Northern Michigan to open the 2026-27 season with a win against Miami. That one took guts.

There's a 7-way tie for first in the standings and since there wasn't a bonus this week there's also a 7-way tie in the Battle for the Beagan. However, as mentioned previously there are bonus points available in week 2. Picking Ferris State or Northern Michigan to win will be worth double points. Don't let the fact that these teams face Western Michigan and Michigan State respectively scare you off. If you want to win this thing, you sometimes gotta live dangerously. So picking Ferris and/or Northern to win is worth 6 points for an outright win, 4 points for an OT win, and 2 points for an OT loss. A tie, if picked, will still be worth 3 points.

REMINDER: There are Thursday games this week, get those picks in early.
