CCHA Pick ‘Em 2026-27 - Tommie Free Edition.

Welcome Pick ‘Em fans to the 2026-27 edition of the CCHA Pick ‘Em contest. This year we bid adieu to the Tommies and celebrate an even number of teams in the league. Good luck to everyone. Here are the particulars:

Click the link, fill out the form (don’t forget your screen name), submit your picks. If you want to change any of your picks, fill out a new form. I will take the last submission as your final answer.

Scoring:
3 points for a regulation win
2 points for an OT or shootout win (shootout for CCHA conference games only)
1 point for an OT or shootout loss (shootout for CCHA conference games only)
0 points for a regulation loss

For OOC regular season and specific tournament games there will be the option to pick a tie. If the game ends in a tie at the end of the NCAA OT period, 3 points will be awarded. If either team wins, zero points will be awarded.

Periodically there will be a bonus question (or two...) worth 5-10 points. There are also two bonus questions available only in week 1 that will cover the entire CCHA regular season.

Only NCAA-sanctioned games will be counted (no exhibition games).

Playoffs will be mano-a-mano single elimination with seeding based on regular season finish. Playoff participation and seeding will be determined based on the number of participants and overall standings. More on the playoffs later.

Four awards are up for grabs:
o MacNaughton Cup – Regular season champion as determined by total points - Last Year’s Winner: mbenecke
o Mason Cup – Playoff champion - Last Year’s Winner: mbenecke
o Bill Beagan Trophy – Highest regular season points percentage (based solely on picks, no bonus) - Last Year’s Winner: mbeneckecke
o Jeff Sauer Trophy – Most bonus points - Last Year’s Winner: iowabasedtraveler

Friendly reminder there are two bonus questions available only in week 1 that pay out at the end of the season. Don't get left out!

Minnesota at Michigan Tech on Friday is postponed.
How does that affect our picks?
Does our pick for Friday now become our pick for Sunday?

We keep the same order. The first pick which was for Fridays game moves to Sat. The second pick for Saturdays game moves to Sun.

Since the games have yet to be played, if you want to make any changes just fill out a new form.

There's a Thursday game this week so as we await the outcome of the delayed Tech/Gopher game this afternoon, here are the Week 2 forms to get you going. Week 1 results will be posted this evening/tomorrow morning.

ALSO THERE WILL BE A DOUBLE DOUBLE BONUS AVAILABLE IN WEEK 2! Picking Northern Michigan to beat Michigan State or Ferris State to beat Western Michigan will be worth double points! That's 6 points for a win, 4 points for an OT win, and 2 points for an OT loss. A tie is still worth 3 points. You must pick Northern and/or Ferris to win to collect.

Congratulations to our week 1 winners who each posted 17 points. If you're wondering, yes, this is the most number of weekly winners ever, here's the list: beaverhockeyfan, Berger21, BGSURICK, jwheeler001, mbenecke, MTUHuskyGold, and Tommiealum93. Well done, gang! Stick taps go to mbenecke who was the only contestant to correctly pick the Ferris/Canisius tie on Saturday. Stick taps also go out to Footballguy51, Manurespreader, and Tommiealum93 who were the only contestants to correctly pick Tech to sweep the Gophers. Lastly, let's recognize iowabasedtraveller, Footballguy51, and Hockey John who stared down the barrel of despair and didn't flich when they picked Northern Michigan to open the 2026-27 season with a win against Miami. That one took guts.

There's a 7-way tie for first in the standings and since there wasn't a bonus this week there's also a 7-way tie in the Battle for the Beagan. However, as mentioned previously there are bonus points available in week 2. Picking Ferris State or Northern Michigan to win will be worth double points. Don't let the fact that these teams face Western Michigan and Michigan State respectively scare you off. If you want to win this thing, you sometimes gotta live dangerously. So picking Ferris and/or Northern to win is worth 6 points for an outright win, 4 points for an OT win, and 2 points for an OT loss. A tie, if picked, will still be worth 3 points.

REMINDER: There are Thursday games this week, get those picks in early.

Congratulations to our week 2 co-winners BGSURICK and manurespreader who each picked up a whopping 39 points! And with this win, BGSURICK finds himself on a two-week winning streak which is also good enough to take over the top spot in the standings. Stick taps go to mbekecke who was the only contestant to call Saturday's Augie/Duluth tie. Jeers go out to the entire field as zero contestants picked Augie to upset Duluth on Friday night. "Nice Try!" goes out to the six contestants who tried playing the odds but came up empty on the Ferris/Northern double-bonus as Western Michigan and Michigan State came away with 4 wins.

With zero bonus points being awarded so far there's nothing to report on the Race for the Sauer which also means BGSURICK leads in the battle for the Beagan.

There is one Thursday night game so get those picks in early.

Is the banner in the previous post that reads "CCHA Pick 'Em 2025-2026 Leaderboard" correct?
I want to make sure that that we are officially scoring 2026-2027 results.
Maybe my ranking should be higher than 13th out of 24?
Thanks!

Tepid congratulations go out to our sole week 3 winner, me, who led the way with 26 points. Another round of stick taps go to Footballguy51 who not only was the only contestant to pick Niagara to win on Friday over BG, he was the only contestant to pick up any points on that series as the entire field went 0-fer on Saturday. Three cheers for manurespreader who posted 24 points on the week and now finds himself alone atop the leaderboard! Not much else to report other than league play begins in week 4 which means the bonus makes it's first meaningful appearance.

NOTE: There was a mistake in the bonus calculation on the initial post. Corrections have been made and all standings have been updated.

Congratulations to our week 4 winner, beaverhockeyfan, who led the way with 27 points! Stick taps go out to beaverhockeyfan who was the only contestant to go a perfect 5-for-5 on Friday night. Cheers to BillyLP and Footballguy51 who were the only two contestants to pick Ferris to upset Tech on Saturday. Finally, congratulations to puckdude40 who had a strong 24-point week and now finds himself alone atop the leaderboard.

There were 21 goals scored in CCHA league games this week, four contestants picked up all 5 bonus points and are currently tied for the lead in the Race for the Sauer given that these are the first bonus points awarded this season. Here's how the bonus paid out:

Code:
Contestant Bonus

Footballguy51 2
beaverhockeyfan 2
Bronco Hockey Fan 1

Now that the bonus is in play, we can turn our attention to the Battle for the Beagan with Manurespreader staking the first claim to the hardware with a .707 pick percentage. Here's how this race looks:

Code:
Contestant Points %
Manurespreader .707
Berger21 .692
beaverhockeyfan .685
Puck Master .682
BGSURICK .677
puckdude40 .677
MTUHuskyGold .677

With CCHA action ramping up we'll rerun the total goals bonus again but this week will be a 10-pointer so everyone should be able to get in on the action. There will also be an added bonus this week; picking Northern Michigan to win Friday and/or Saturday over Augustana will be worth double points (6 points for a win, 4 points for an OT/SO win, 2 points for an OT/SO loss). Lastly, the first set of results for the yearly bonus goal are in the books with Bowling Green setting the max goals bar at 6. The last column of the standings page shows the number of bonus points that will be added to each contestant's score at the end of the season.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think there were 21 goals scored in CCHA league games this week. Not sure if that changes anything just wanted to let you know
