Ccc 2021-2022

Not a dirty conference. Far from it. Playing home/home weekends hurts them in that regards as well as playing everyone three times in the year also doesn't help. Alot of carry over from the night before battles.

Also ALL CCC games are cancelled for tonight. Gonna really tighten the schedule the last two weeks.

Finally CCC will have all 8 teams make the playoffs this season.

Lets play some hockey.

Nichols and Salve are scheduled to face off at 8:00 in Rhode Island. Nichols is coming off a two win weekend against WNEU. Has Nichols “righted their ship” for a late season run?

(Is it supposed to “wrighted” as in shipwright, or “righted”?)

Shipwright is a ship builder. So, "righted" is the correct word.

I agree with your premise that these teams are way too familiar with each other, and they do tend to beat the snot out of each other.

The Conference Web site is still saying six teams in playoffs with 3-6,4-5 games on feb 23rd. Have they announced a change?

Here you go: All teams will now qualify for their respective tournaments as long as they have completed 75 percent (rounded down) of their conference games (13 of 18 games for basketball and women’s ice hockey and 15 of 21 games for men’s ice hockey). Additionally, in the event that all conference games are not completed, winning percentage in basketball and point percentage (points earned / possible points) in ice hockey will be used to determine seeding.

The men’s and women’s hockey tournaments will still be held on their original dates with additional quarterfinal games to accommodate the expanded field. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 23, followed by the semifinals on Saturday, Feb. 26 and the Championships a week later on March 5. In women’s ice hockey, with only seven teams competing, the No. 1 seed will receive a bye into the semifinals while the other six teams play quarterfinal matchups. Meanwhile, all eight men’s ice hockey teams will play in the quarterfinals. Both tournaments will be re-seeded after the first round with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals.

Interesting game today with Nichols at Salve. Nichols seems to have put together a good couple of weeks, winning 3 in a row. Salve sits at the top of the Conference, tied with UNE. Should be a game with watching.

The other game today has Curry at Suffolk. Suffolk has been a bit on an enigma this season. They have played a lot of teams tough and Curry needs to get something going as the season winds down. Another good game to watch! Curry also has UNE on Tuesday, make up game from Jan 22. Already having lost their last two, this is not a time to go on an extended losing streak!

Still don’t like that the conference has teams playing 3 times in a season. Now, with all teams qualifying for Conference Playoffs, some teams will play each other 4 times!

Curry 7-2 winner this morning. A rare morning tilt. Guys must’ve felt like they were back in pee wees!! Suffolk tied Salve the night before and Curry lost 2-1 to Endicott yesterday afternoon in a game dictated by the officials. Didn’t favor either teams but game had no flow at all. A lot of very ticky tax calls that should’ve been let go and allow the boys to play. Stoppages all over the ice. Not enjoyable game to watch and probably even more frustrating to play in. Nichols scored late to beat WIT last night. 5-6 games remaining.

The Polls came out today and I don’t know how USCHO can have UNE at 11 and not include, at the least, Salve. I think that the D-III Hockey Poll with UNE, Salve and Endicott at 13, 14 & 15. Not sure that I agree with order of that either.

UNE has lost 3 of their 4 OOC games, and played the fewest games of anyone in the top 15. They seem to be crunching their schedule to get their conference games in, but the OOC games are lost (I think!)

Endicott and UNE postponed their game on Friday at Biddeford. I think they’ll make that game up on Feb 15. Endicott nipped Curry on Saturday and UNE put up 6 against WNEU. First conference game that UNE didn’t have Billy Girard in goal.

Salve spanked Nichols on Saturday after a tie with Suffolk (Endicott won the shootout for the extra point!)

Suffolk and Endicott play a make up game on Tuesday as does UNE/Curry and Wentworth/WNEU. UNE will have to play a while lot better than they did the last time the met Curry. Curry put a 6-2 hurt on them and this could be a huge game for seeding purposes.

I have watched several games on Stream, and I know that it is very different than watching at rinkside, But with few exceptions the CCC games do not have the consistent intensity as do the teams out west or upstate NY. Just my observation, so jump all over me, if you’d like!

Rare active Tuesday night in the CCC. Endicott took care of business against Suffolk. I didn’t get view any part of that game, as I was in Biddeford for the UNE/Curry rematch. However, it appears that the first period was fairly even. No scoring and the shots seemed fairly even, but that seems to be where it went of the rails for Suffolk during about a 3 minute stretch.

The game in Biddeford was a pretty good one. Both teams seemed to have picked up the pace of their games with some good crisp passes and lots of good movement off the puck. That type of play opened up some great chances for both teams. But or a couple of “rim’ shots by Curry, the game could have been very different, not to take anything away from UNE. They were a totally different team from the first game.

If you’re looking from something to do on the Saturday before the SuperBowl, you might want to take in the third round between these two teams at The IceHouse in Canton. I think the game starts at 3:20 pm. It should be good.

Other games of note this weekend have Wentworth visiting Salve, Curry will play at Nichols and Suffolk at UNE. Endicott should have an easy time with WNEU, but that could be the “trap” game of the weekend!

With a win on Friday night against Salve, UNE could wrap up home ice through the Conference Championship. Salve can control its destiny, and a conference top spot with wins over UNE in Biddeford and a home win against Endicott. Curry has the fourth spot nailed down and Suffolk has 5th place wrapped up. Nichols and Wentworth are still battling for the 6th place spot.

Hard to believe we’re at the last weekend of the season. It has certainly even an interesting year. Hoping we get some great Conference Tourney Games.

CCC semifinals this Wednesday. UNE vs. Nichols (upset win over salve) & Endicott vs. Curry. Looking at the scores this season these games could be interesting. Curry/Endicott played three very close games. Both winning one goal games. Nichols/UNE also played two 2-1 games. UNE winning the other 7-2 very early in season. Nichols finally healthy and playing very well down the stretch. Curry/Endicott will be a battle. Special Teams will be huge in this game, along with goaltending. thoughts??

I really don’t know what it is about UNE that keeps them winning. Yes, they have talented players and, yes, Kevin Swallow is a good coach, but there seem to be so many weaknesses in this team. It is surprising that some teams can’t take advantage of these weaknesses.

Offensively, their o-zone entrance is scattered and haphazard. They just don’t seem to have a method to the madness. D-zone breakout is susceptible to a good aggressive forecheck. Rarely do d-men support each other to provide outlets, and Lord forbid something happen to the puck carriers and create a turnover. They do block shots better than most teams and their goalie is exceptional, so he can cover a multitude of sins.

I can’t say I have seem them set up a cycle down low, although they can cycle pretty well with their d-men.

Saying all of these, they are a very good team. They are definitely, man for man, the most talented team in the CCC. My concern is what happens when they leave the Conference and play against teams that have been putting together a season’s worth of team play and have been working their systems both low and high?

Saturdays’ game should be a dandy. These teams have that love/hate respect for each other. They have been knocking heads at this level for years, not quite BC/BU, but for D-3 a great rivalry.

I also think that with their wins today, they should both get a bid to the NCAA. Any doubts out there?

Endicott needs to win to great in. My thoughts! Too many teams ahead of them that got upset. Although I’d love to see 2 CCC teams move on.

One of the best D3 games of the year last night in Beverly. Game was back and forth. Great players, great saves! Best thing was referees let them play. Only 3 penalties. Great flow. Mid season game the officials would’ve made 10 calls easily. Just wish they let them play like that all year. Hats off to both team.

For both teams to get in, you would first need Endicott to win, and then after that, you'd more likely than not need: Utica, Augsburg, Babson, Geneseo, and UW-Eau Claire to win to give UNE a shot to steal an at-large

I’ve said this here a couple of times over the course of the season, and I am going to put this out there again. I think the make up of the CCC schedule worked against them this season. Paying each team in your conference 3 times leaves room for only 4 OOC games. Also the CCC had only 4 real competitive teams, so their SOS had to have been diminished. Endicott played 3 games against NESCAC and then Salem State, Salve played Norwich, J&W, Trinity and Wesleyan, UNE was scheduled to play Colby, Williams and either Norwich or Hamilton, they only played Bowdoin and Curry had Norwich, UMB, Stonehill and Utica. I think most teams got their OOC games in except UNE. It also doesn’t help when the bottom 4 teams really struggle against the league iron and each other. I just don’t think the is schedule format works in the Conferences favor.

The last full schedule had teams play each other twice with teams playing a 3rd game against 4 teams. That didn’t work.

The year before, when each team play twice with 10 teams in the Conference, they were able to strengthen their schedules. They had 3 teams qualify for the NCAAs and, I believe, Salve made it to the finals.

I think the Conference BrainTrust owes it to the institutions to come up with a better format for schedules that will highlight the league, improve recruiting and highlight

Completely agree. Suffolk fan here. Suffolk performed above expectations but still are missing 3 or 4 quality players to be among the top teams in the CCC. It did not help when they had to make up so many conference games because of COVID or winter storms.

Not much talk about the teams from the CCC this season, but it’s hard to look past the fact that there are three teams in the top 15 in the weekly poll and the same three teams occupying spots in the top nine slots in the Pairwise. Endicott and Curry have had great seasons, as have UNE. Tonight’s game at Beverly (UNE v Endicott) will be huge for the league, each team and those of you who do the machinations of Bracketology. Maybe this is why Playoffs are played!
