Ccc 2021-2022

Well its break time and really no surprises. Top 4 teams UNE, Curry, Salve, Endicott all within a point or two of eachother. An undermanned Curry team losing last night to salve at St. Georges. Nothing at all against Salve because they are a very good team but Curry was without their #1 & #2 Goalies (St. George vaccination guidelines) and two top Dmen. Time to get your rest, 2nd half should be interesting.

I think the CCC is very strong this season despite Nichols struggles. Every team has shown to be a test this season and Nichols has some weapons. The Nescac seems to be a disappointment out of all the conferences this season but there is still a long ways to go.

I am looking at the box score of the recent Curry vs Salve game and it seems they had their full lineup but a third string goaltender. What were the names of the other players that did not play?

Salve has a very good team, I would say young, but they are all in the 20's. Walinski is one of the best players in the conference and Latinovich is an excellent goalie. They have a few players that have been injured so literally everyone on their roster has played a few games. They lost to Norwich by 1, Endicott by 1 and then overlooked Wentworth the second game of a back to back and never really showed up against Trinity.

Clearly the top 4 teams are going to beat each other up the second half of the season. Endicott, Curry, UNE and Salve. Its gonna be a very competitive second half.

Curry was also without Lindstrom Capt. D-Man, Peltonen Sr. D-Man, Laaksonen Fr. center. Again no excuses, you can only play the players that are there. But it was not there best team on the ice.

We watched the game via salve website feed. Peltonen indeed dressed and played large minutes. Salve had their captain out of the game as well as some key forwards to injury. It looks like Laaksonen and Lindstrom haven't played in a few games according to uscho stats.

I am very excited for the next few weeks contests as UNE and Curry have some tough matchups.

Lets hope University of New England represents the CCC well and wins the tournament in Norwich coming up. Curry and Utica should be a heck of a game and a real test for a CCC team. I don't think Utica has seen a team like Curry yet. We will be tuning in!!

Questionable. They have played Adrian twice, Geneseo, and Wilkes. Four games vs top 5 pairwise teams.

Sorry to disagree with you “Shipyardblue” but i was at the game and Peltonen did not play, didn’t even travel. And salve Captain-Sennot did play. Only player not in lineup for salve was Krause and he has only played in 6 games this season due to injury. Check the box.
Games to start the break should be good ones!! Go CCC

Don't confuse anyone via the facts. That doesn't work anymore, because (apparently) facts don't exist these days.

But, we're talking hockey, and anything can happen in hockey, especially in D-3.

Still, my $5 is on UC to take out Curry.

It really hasn’t been a great holiday break for teams in the CCC. Endicott got beat in Brunswick by Bowdoin, Curry took a beating in upstate New York, Western New England ties Rivier and many clubs had games postponed or cancelled. I was looking forward to UNE’s weekend at Norwich, considering that these would be half of UNE’s OOC games for the season. Hopefully, UNE and Colby will play tomorrow night.

In spite of not playing, UNE continues to move up in the National Rankings (not really sure how!).

Hopefully, we’ll get to see some hockey in January and February.

Everyone is supposed to be back in action this weekend. I really hope all 8 teams get their games in. This is a big weekend for Salve and Nichols, both teams are playing “the iron” of the conference and, I would expect they’d like to make statements about their second half run. Curry is playing at Wentworth and after their loss at Utica, they’d like to get back on the winning side. Suffolk and Western New England play each other, and these games could be the best of the entire conference! These two seem evenly matched and could provide fireworks as the game winds down. Both teams seem very proud, and they both have a bit of an edge that could show itself in a close game!

Salve/UNE will be interesting as both teams haven’t played since before Christmas. How much rust will they need to knock off? Nichols is still the enigma to me. I watched them play UNE at Biddeford and they pushed UNE to the brink. They have some good skaters, they moved the puck well, their goalie seemed solid, how they are 2-8 (1-8 in conference play) still puzzles me. Looking at their results, they played better earlier in the season.

Here’s hoping for a full slate of games this weekend (we’ll take it one week at a time!) I still wonder what the loss of the OOC games will mean for these school at the end of the season.

UNE will play Albertus Magnus on Saturday at 5:30 in Biddeford. On paper, this has the makings for a pretty good game. Still no word on when they’ll reschedule the games with Salve.

#15 Curry beats #10 UNE tonight at curry 6-2. 6 different scorers and Cooper looked steady in net. Curry looked real good. UNE hasn’t played in over a month due to cancellations. Curry only dressed three lines and 6 men. Tomorrow up in Biddeford should be interesting.

UNE threw a real stinker at Curry at night, and that is not to say Curry didn’t play well, the did. Curry took advantage of many of the gaffs. When UNE made an errant pass, Curry was there to turn it back on UNE. All season, it seemed that UNE, in spite of their talent, seems to play sloppy hockey in all 3 zones. Even during the first half of the season, their ability to complete passes, attack the O-zone or maintain a real pressing attack just wasn’t happening. It all caught up to them last night. Curry is a solid team who play a good disciplined game. They appear to be well coached and they have bought what the coach is selling.

Afetr last night, I’m not sure UNE has it in them to recover from last night. I hope they do, but their shortcomings tend to be self inflicted, and those are hard to fix if the players are buying!

In other games in the CCC, Endicott pushed their dominance 7-0 over Wentworth, Salve beat Wentworth and Nichols finally put a game together for 60 minutes and beat Suffolk 4-2.

Also, UNE and Salve rescheduled their postponed games for next Monday at Salve and at Biddeford on Jan 31.

I would agree with you, but i believe Curry had a lot to do with a lot of those gaffs and errant passes you talk about. They pressured UNE all over the ice to create turnovers, and did it with three lines. They attacked UNE on the PK and the PP. UNE is a very good team that i believe having 1 month off didn’t help. You cannot duplicate game speed in practice and i think that showed. Curry is also a very good team. Last 10 games or so should be fun.

Well, Friday night was an interesting night in the CCC. UNE beat Wentworth 6-4 in a back and forth game. UNE scored their 5th goal at the 15th minute and Wentworth appeared to tie it up shortly after. The goal was immediately waved off as I guess they were off side. The D-man, evidently, couldn’t keep the clear by UNE in the zone, I think, the broadcaster was a bit unclear as to the reason for the wave off. UNE ended it with an ENer.

Endicott seems to have hit a rough patch this week losing to Wentworth on Saturday and then again to Suffolk last night. Both games were one goal losses, you know, the kind where one bounce can be the difference!

Curry manhandles UNE on Friday 6-2, then UNE beats Salve 3-2 on Monday and then Salve beats Curry 2-0 last night. Just a typical week in the CCC. Back at the beginning of the season, or more probably when this schedule was released, I was worried out playing 3 games against Conference opponents. The lack of OCC games could hurt the chances of anyone other than the Conference Champ getting an invite to the NCAA Tournament. I know Fish, it should be the reg season champ anyway, but the way this season is going, these third game agains any team is going to be very tough. And, I believe, this puts the CCC teams at a disadvantage.

I doubt that any game in eastern New England will be played today or tonight. I know that UNE has games scheduled on Monday and Tuesday (Salve Monday and Wentworth on Tuesday). I would guess make ups will happen on Sunday and Monday for other teams. This last month will get very interesting in the CCC.

Yes i would have to agree. CCC needs to get rid of the 3 games against each other. They are beating themselves up. Regarding last nights Curry/Salve game. It was a game of goaltenders and Salves goalie was just a bit better last night. Curry outshot salve like 36-25 but Latinovitch (SP) was outstanding. Making a few spectacular saves on open net chances.
Looks like Curry, salve, UNE, Endicott are the top four (in no particular order) and don’t sleep on the bottom four as thy can pull off the upset as has been proven a few times this year. 8-10 games remaining should be fun.

This was supposed to be a big weekend for Endicott in the CCC, but the weather has changed that. By one half. Endicott had a huge test at UNE tonight and then followed up with a home game against Curry. Unfortunately the game tonight has been postponed by the weather! Still, tomorrow afternoon’s game against Curry, which is also Endicott’s Senior Night (day), will be a key match up for the conference.

Curry has a home game against a very tough Suffolk team that has already surprised some teams. Early on in the season, Curry had to work overtime (and shoot out) to best Suffolk and then almost overtime to come out on top. Curry scored 9 seconds after Suffolk tied the game in the final minute of the game.

Nichols and Salve are scheduled to face off at 8:00 in Rhode Island. Nichols is coming off a two win weekend against WNEU. Has Nichols “righted their ship” for a late season run?

(Is it supposed to “wrighted” as in shipwright, or “righted”?)

With this cancellation, UNE has a makeup game schedules against Curry, this coming Tuesday in Biddeford and now Endicott, with not date for make up yet. The schedule is getting crowded for this end of season for UNE.

With only 6 positions playing in the Conference Playoffs, teams like Nichols, Wentworth and WNEU have some work to do!
