Re: Cars

VW Golf R looks very nice and fun as well, although it's too small to be practical for any real purpose other than fun, imo.

If I get a sporty car soon, I would be looking strongly at the Scion FR-S. Rwd car, manual, orange metallic color. Yum.

Hideous vehicle!

As much as I like reliability/maybe sportiness, I like aesthetics too.

Re: Cars

Maybe I need to try them again, but if my experiences with VW's and Audi's in the 80's-90's are any indication I'd much rather go Japanese of which I've primarily chosen (outside of American built trucks) since.

Re: Cars

Not as bad as that Toyota FJ Cruiser. F*ing Tonka Toy truck thingy. I want to nuke all those mofos.
With thumb tacks in my shoes. I'd rather walk with thumb tacks in my shoes than drive a Scion.

Seriously, I've put up with some ****ty Nissans, Mazdas, Toyotas and Hyundais for rental cars, but ya gotta draw the line somewhere.

My hatred of FJ Cruisers is unnatural. I hate them so much. I'd rather drive a VW Cabriolet convertible for life than take a test drive of an FJ.

Scions are just Toyotas marketed to a younger demographic. A few if their new cars look pretty cool. The XUV's, Ick.

The funny thing is, Scion anticipated the average age of their buyers to be like 24-27. It was close to 40 last I heard.

And yes, Scions are pretty much Toyotas. The Tc is a solid, fun car. I had an xB (1st gen) for 3 years before moving to my new car last spring, also a very fun car to drive, although it had nothing for power. I'm not big on the xA/xD, although my sister has never had any issues at all with hers and routinely gets 35mpg+.

I like that hideous orange color. Don't much like the shape of the things, but the color I dig the hell out of.

I know what you mean about colors so ugly they are great. My dad had a 1972 Dodge truck that was ridiculously green. It looked like road sign, with the white lettering and white topper. That thing was awesome.

Re: Cars

I'll look into that. My buddy just got the A4 with an automatic and I enjoyed driving it, I can't imagine how much more it would be in a manual version.

We have 3 Audis and the favorite is the A4 manual. Nothing compares to it on snow, ice or rainy roads. It is an older model so it has the 6 cylinder engine. Incredibly fun to drive. The new ones do not offer the 6 but the 4 has plenty of zip. If you can spare the bucks though, and really want to buy a rocket-go for the S4. The power is incredible and with their standard AWD it sticks to the road like glue. Not as good as the A4 in rotten weather because of the summer performance tires but it just has a world of pick up.

The new Scion is also pretty much a Subaru. Which makes for a simple solution for those who are interested in the FRS but unsure about the Scion badge.

I think the common denominator there is rental. I once rented a premium car and got a Cadillac Catera. :p

Nissan Cubes are worse. Everyone involved in designing that thing should be executed.

I really thought you were going to go with the Juke. Cube works too, though.
